CALL TO ORDER
Chair Lopez called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.

Member Gaviña moved and Chair Lopez seconded a motion to approve the agenda. The

PRESENTATIONS
1. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair
Recommendation: Select one member to serve as Chair and one member to serve as Vice
Chair for the term ending June 30, 2021.
City Clerk Pope presented the staff report.
MOTION
Member Gaviña moved and Member Gonzalez seconded a motion to select Leticia Lopez
to serve as Chair. The question was called and the motion carried 5-1, Member Froberg
absent.
MOTION
Chair Lopez moved and Member Chang seconded a motion to select Michael Gaviña to
serve as Vice Chair. The question was called and the motion carried 5-1, Member Froberg
absent.
CONSENT CALENDAR
MOTION
Vice Chair Gaviña moved and Member Gonzalez seconded a motion to approve the
Consent Calendar. The question was called and the motion carried 5-1, Member Froberg
absent.
The Consent Calendar consisted of the following items:

Recommendation: Approve the May 20, 2020 Regular Vernon CommUNITY Fund Grant
Committee meeting minutes.
3. Fiscal Year 2019/2020 Vernon CommUNITY Fund Grant Committee Activity Report
Recommendation: Receive and file the report, as it is being provided for informational
purposes only.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Fiscal Year 2020/2021 Docket I Vernon CommUNITY Fund Direct Service Grants
Recommendation: Award Fiscal Year 2020/2021 Docket I direct service grants totaling
$373,325 to the following applicants:
1) Alzheimer's Greater Los Angeles (Returning Grantee) - $17,475;
2) Camp TLC at East LA Rising - $48,850;
3) Center for Nonviolent Education & Parenting (Returning Grantee) - $40,000;
4) Chicas Rockeras South East Los Angeles - $25,000;
5) East LA Community Corporation (Returning Grantee) - $60,000;
6) Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (Returning Grantee) - $30,000;

7) Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County (Returning Grantee) - $20,000;
8) Human Services Association (Returning Grantee) - $25,000;
9) Southeast Churches Service Center (Returning Grantee) - $50,000;
10) Woodcraft Rangers (Returning Grantee) - $30,000; and
11) YWCA Greater Los Angeles - $30,000.
Fran Jemmott, Jemmott-Rollins Group, summarized the applicants, requested grant amount
and recommendation.
The Committee discussed use of grant funds and potential modifications due to COVID-
19.

Vice Chair Gaviῆa moved and Member Chang seconded a motion to: Award Fiscal Year
