Background
Keck Medicine of USC, one of the top health systems in the country, is part of
a global clinical trial testing a potential COVID-19 vaccine developed by
Oxford University and AstraZeneca. The trial is currently enrolling patients at
Keck Medical Center in Boyle Heights.
To ensure that the trial includes a diverse cohort and that at-risk individuals
have early access to the vaccine, Keck Medicine is collaborating with the City
of Vernon to recruit workers from local processing plants that have been
disproportionately affected by the pandemic. The trial is also in need of
volunteers at high risk for infection.
A conveniently located clinical trial site at Vernon City Hall is scheduled to
open within the next few days.
