A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city of Vernon) Oounty of Los Angeles) and State of California" was held on the 2nd day of March " 191 5) at 2 0' olock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said city of Vernon,.. which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinanoe for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at suoh meeting Trustees) Furlong, Durbin, Stevene, Kniffin and Leonie. Also Oi"ty Attorney Williams. There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee, None. President Trustee Furlong presiding. 23rd The minutes of the meeting , held on February 1915, were: read and approved. Ordinance No. 153, entitled an or4inance regulating the carrying on of oertain businesses in the City of Vernon, was introduced, read and passed its first reading. Ordinanoe No. 154 entitled an ordinance regulating the storage of orude 011 or the products thereof and the installation, operation and maintenance of boilers and machinery in the City of Vernon, Oal. was introduced, read and passed its first reading. Thereupon the fOllowing resolution was introduced, read and laid over for further consideration. Said resolution being in words and figures as follaws, to-wit: Resolution No. 140 It is resolved that should any applications come in for a transfer of a liquor license, whether it be wholesale, retail or otherwise, that before said transfer shall in any wise be considered at all, such appli- cation shall have accompanying it, either cash or a oertified check or a oashier's check as follaws: (a) With the application for the transfer of a retail lioense $5000.00 (b) With the application for the transfer of a wholesale or other license $3000.00; and, It is further resolved that by the adoption of this resolution it is not intended in any wise to modify, alter or change a former ordinanoe of this Board providing that when a person, firm or corporation, desires to retire from the selling. of spirituous, vinous or malt liquors in the city, the license shall retur~ to the city and there shall be no transfen 3/2/15 -1- 1. The Boa~d now reaffirming that all licenses are the property of the city and by the granting of the license no property right shall pass to the person. firm or corporation to which it is granted, but that the same shall at all times be and remain in the city. The object of the resolution being to indicate that if a transfer of a license is desired and the Board sees fit to issue the license to the person to whom it is requested to be issued by the original holder of the license, that it will be so issued in the na,ture of a tra.nsfer, but as a matter of fact as a new license; and the respeotive amounts required to be deposited at the time the application is made, shall, if the license is issued to the person. firm or corporation to whom it is requested to be issued, be paid into the City Treasury at the time the license is ordered issued to such person, firm or corporation. The Board instructed Trustees Durbin and Furlong tD purchase a check protector for the use of the city. The warrant of the L. A. Paving Company for $9375.37 for work for the improvement of Vernon Avenue was audited and ordered paid. Thereupon the meeting adjourned to meet again on the 5th day of March, 1915 at 8 o'clock p.
