ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING.
An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
Oity of Vernon, county of Los Angeles, State of california. was
held on :the 2'7th day of Ootober 191 5, at 2 0' olook
P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in
said Oity of Vernon, which sa.id place is the place fixed by ordi-
nance for regular meetings of said Board to be held, pursuant to
adjournment from the regular meeting held the 19th day of
Ootober 19l 5,
There were present at such meeting Trustees, Furlong,
Kniffin and Leonis.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee, stevens and
Durbin.

Th~ minutes of the meeting , held on October 19th,
19l5, were: read and adopted.
Thereupon Ordinance No. 163 entitled an ordinance ohanging and
establishing the grade of the Easterly portion of Santa Fe Avenue
from the Southerly line of Fruitland Road to the Southerl~ city
boundary was read for the second time and was adopted.
Ordinance No. 164 entitled an ordinance changing and establishing
the grade of Ross street in the City of Vernon, California, was read
for the second time and adopted.
Ordinance No. 165 entitled an ordinance regulating the making
and refilling of excavations and the'making of fills in pUblic streets,
alleys and other public places in the City of Vernon, California, was
read for the second time and adopted.
Thereupon Resolution No. 145 ordering that portion of Santa Fe
Avenue from the Southerly line of Fruitland Road to the Southerly city
boundary in the City of Vernon to be improved, was duly and regularly
introduced, read and adopted by the fOllowing vote.

"The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, California, do hereby
resolve as follows, to-wit:

That the public interest and convenience require and;~the Board of
Trustees of said city do order that portion of Santa Fe Avenue in said
city lying East of the center line of said Santa: Fe Avenue and extending
Southerly from the production Westerly of the center line of Fruitland
Road as shown on map of Huntington Park Extension No. 1 recorded in
Book '8, page 181 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, California,
to its intersection with the production Easterly of the center line
of Center Avenue, sometimes called Center Street, as shawn on map of
the Hay Tract recorded in Book 29, page 2 of Miscellaneous Records of
said Los Angeles County and from thence Southerly to its intersection
with the production Westerly of the South line of Lot 15, Block 6,
Huntington Park Extension No.1 aforesaid, said line being the South
city boundary line of said City of Vernon, a strip 80 feet wide being
40 feet either side of the center line excepting such portions thereof
as are required by law to be kept in order and repair by any person,
firm or corporation, to be improved in the manner described in
Resolution of Intention No. 144, duly and regularly adopted by the
said Board on the 21st day of September, 1915, in accordance with the
plans and specifications therein referred to, as follows, to-wit:
(a) That said street between said l~its be graded to the
official grade and that the roadway space thereof be paved with a
concrete base and asphalt wearing surface in accordance with specifi-
cations No. 11 and plan and profile No. 139 of said city.
(b) That a concrete gutter twelve (12") inches in width be con-
structed along the sides of the roadway space of said street and ad-
jacent to the curb, between the aforesaid limits, 1n accordance with
specifications No. 10 and also as per said plan and profile.
(c) That a concrete curb be constructed along the sides of the
roadway space of said street, between the aforesaid l~its in accor-
dance with specifications No. 9 and also as per said plan and profile.
All specifications herein referred to are on file 1n the office
of the City Clerk of said city.
All plans and profiles herein referred to are on file in the offive
of the City Engineer of said city.
The Board of Trustees determines that serial bonds shall be

issued to represent assessments of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or
over for the cost ot said work or improvements; said serial bonds
shall extend over a periOd ending nine years trom and after the seconi
day of January next succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even
annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable, by
coupon on the second day of January every year after their date
until the whole is paid; and the interest shall b~ payable semi-
annually by coupon, on the second de,ys ot January and July respectively
of eaoh year, at the rate ot seven per cent )?%) per annum on all
sums unpaid, until the whole ot said principal and interest is paid.
Said bonds shall be issued in accordanoe with the provisions .of an
act of the Legislature ot the state ot Calitornia, entitled "An Act
to provide a system of street improvement bonds to represent certain
assessments for the cost ot street work and improvements within
municipalities, and also for the payment of such bonds," approved
February 27th, 1893, and all acts supplementary thereto or amendatory
thereof.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a copy of this
resolution in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon,
to-wit, one at the Northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and 37th
Street, another at the Northwest corner ot Santa Fe Avenue and 38th
street and another at the front door of the City Hall in said city.
Adopted and approved this 2?th day of October, 1915.

"NOTICE INVITING :BIDS FOR STREET WORK PROPOSALS"
"Pursuant to statute and to Resolution No. 145 adopted by the

Eoard of Trustees of the City of Vernon, California, October 27th, 1915
directing this notice, said Board invites sealed proposals or bids far
the following street work to be done according to the plans and speci-
fications for said work posted and on file.
That portion of SANTA FE AVENUE in said city lying East of the
center line of said Santa Fe Avenue and extending Southerly from the
production Westerly of the center line of Fruitland Road as shown on
map of Huntington Park Extension NO.1, recorded in Book 8, page 181
of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, California, to its intersection
with the production Easterly of the center line of Center Avenue,
sometimes called Center Street, 8S shown on map of the Hay Tract,
reoorded in Eook 29, page 2 of Misoellaneous Records of said Los Angeles
County and from thence Southerly to its intersection with the pro-
duction Westerly of the South line of Lot 15, Elock 6, Huntington
Park Extension No. 1 aforesaid, said line being the South oity boundary
line of said City of Vernon, a strip 80 feet wide being 40 feet either
side of the center line exc~pting such portions thereof as are required
by law to be kept in order and repair by any person, firm or corpora-
tion to be improved in the manner described in Resolution of Inten-
tion No. 144 adopted by said Board on the 21st day of September, 1915
in accordance with the plans and specifications therein referred to.
All of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of
an act of the legislature of the State of California, entitled ..n act
to provide for work on streets, lanes, alleys, courts and plaoes and
sidewalks, and foI' the construction of sewers within municipalities-
approved March 18th, 1885, and the several acts amendatory thereof or
supplementary thereto, and also in accordance with the plans and
specifications therefor.
Said sealed proposals or bids are to be deliver81 to the under-
signed City Clerk of said city and Clerk of said Board of Trustees at
his office in the city hall of said City of Vernon, on or before two
o'clock P. M. on Tuesday the 23rd day of November, 1915.
Bidders must file with each proposal or bid either a check
payable to the order of the President of the Board of Trustees of said
city, certified by a responsible bank, for an amount which shall not
be less than ten per cent (10%) of the aggregate of the proposal, or

else a bond for said amount, payable as aforesaid, signed by the

bidder and two sureties, who shall justify before an officer competent
to administer an oath in double said amount and over and above all
statutory exemptions.
The Board of Trustees determines that ~rial bonds shall be
