An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Oity of Vernon, county of Los Angeles, State of California. was held on the 17th day of April Ha6, at 2 0' olook P. M. of said day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said Oity of Vernon, whioh saidplaoe is the plaoe fixed by ordi- nanoe for regular meetings of said Board to be held, pursuant to adjournment from the regular meeting held the 11th day of April 19l6 , There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Leonis, Kniffin, Furlong and Stevens. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Durbin. President Trustee presiding. Furlong Th~ minutes of the meeting , held on April 4th, 19l6, were: read and approved. Thereupon all the matters, things and acts done at the meeting held at the hour of 2 o'clock p. M. on Tuesday, April 11th, 1916 were particularly ratified and approved. The Clerk reported that all the officers which were elected at the regular General Municipal Election held on the lOth day of April 19l6 had signed their oaths of office and the same were duly and regularly on file as required by law, and were present. Thereupon the old Board of Trustees adjourned and thereupon the City Clerk called a meeting of the new Board of Trustees to order and there were present, John B. Leonis, J. J. Furlong, W. M. Stevens and JohnW. Kniffin, as Trustees who took their seats as such Trustees in the meeting. Thereupon the Clerk asked who the Bo~rd of Trustees would have as the President thereof. Thereupon J. J. Furlong being duly and regularly nominated as President of the Board of Trustees and there being no other nomina- tion, the said J. J. Furlong was duly and regularly elected as the President of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon. Los Angeles County, California; and, Thereupon the said :1'. J. Furlong took his seat as such President of said Board and declared the Board of Trustees duly and regularly open and ready for such business as might come befoje the same. 4/1'1/l6 -1- ,h The President of the Board was instructed to name such persons as officers of the city for confirmation by the Board of Trustees. Thereupon the following resolution was introduced read and adopted, the same being in words and figures as follows, to-wit: "RESOLUTION NO. l501f DECLARING RESULT OF THE REGULAR lillNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 10, 1916. WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Monday the tenth day of April, 19l6, for the purpose of electing a clerk, a treasurer and two members of the board of trustees for a period of four years. AND WHEREAS, it appears that said election was held and conducted in accordance with the general election laws of the state, so far as the same were applicable; and that the board of trustees gave such notice of election as prescribed by ordinance, and appointed boards of election, fixed their compensation and established election pre- cincts and pOlling places; and that said election was held and con- ducted and the votes cast thereat were received and canvassed, and returns thereon made in time, form and manner as required by law, AND WHEREAS, the board of trustees did meet on this, the seven- teenth day of April, 1916, being the Monday next succeeding the date of said general municipal election for the purpose of canvassing the vote cast thereat, whereupon it was found that the vote cast at said election in the respective precincts established therefor was as follows: /' VERNON CITY ELECTION PRECINCT. Furlong 142 votes For Treasurer Herman Scheider 128 votes 4/17/16 -2- 1 8 A1ID WHEREAS, it appears from a canvass of the votes cast at said general municipal election that the persons next herein named received a majority of all the votes cast thereat for the respective offices mentioned, now therefore: IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, determined and declared by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, that at the general municipal election held in said City of Vernon on Monday the tenth day of April, 1916, the persons elected to the respective offices for the terms stated and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, are as follows: J. J. Furlong, as trustee for the term of four years. W. M. Stevens, as trustee for the term of four years. T. J. Furlong,' as clerk for the period of two years, and Herman Scheider, as treasurer, for the period of two years. The clerk and the treasurer, respectively, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, shall execute a bond to the Oi ty of Yernon in such sum a,s required by ordinance, which bond she.ll be approved by the board of trustees and filed with the clerk; the bond of the clerk shall be filed with the president of the board. All newly elected officers before entering upon the duties of the office to which they have been elected, shall take and subscril)e to the constitutional oath of office, and file the same with the clerk. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon on Monday, April 17th, 1916 by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees, Leonis, Stevens, Kniffin and Furlong.
