19160418 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon I Oounty of Los Angeles, and State of Californial was held on the 18th day of Apr il , 191 6, at 2 0' olock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said city of Vernon, whioh said time and plaoe is the time and plaoe fixed by ordinanoe for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Furlong, stevens and Kniffin, There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Durbin and Leonis. President Trustee presiding. Furlong The minutes of the meeting were read and approved. held on April 4th, 1916 }.g.l--~-~: Action in regard to decreasing the number of feet from paved streets for the erection of oil tanks to 50 feet as per request of the General Petroleum Company was deferred until all the members of the Board of Trustees were present. Thereupon the fOllowing letter from E. J. stanton & Son was read by the Clerk: "Los Angeles, Cal., April 18, 1916. Board of Trustees, City of Vernon, Vernon, Calif. Gentlemen: We wish to ask you to appoint !lr. H. F. Ricketson, and Wm. Allen, special officers in the City of Vernon, and wish to say that this Company will be responsible for all damages which may be incurred tr~ough them as special offioers. Thereupon by reason of the promises and agreements set up in the letter and at the request of the said Stanton Lumber Company, H. F. Ricketson and Wm. Allen were thereupon duly and regularly appointed Special Deputy and Police Officers with the usual powers of such Special Deputies. 4/18/16 -1- An application from the South Los Angeles Water Company for germission to lay a water me.in in Santa Fe Avenue was recei ved by the Board and the same was granted to said company. Gentlemen:- The undersigned, owning the following described property: "That portion of the northwest quarter of section fifteen (15) township, two (2) south, ra,nge thirteen (13) west, S. B. Fe Ave. with proper manholes and connections from its plant, now being erected on said premises North to the main sewer in Vernon Ave. to be put in and paid for by the undersigned and provided that any future connec- tions into said sewer be upon the condition that the perty connecting, refund the prorata cost of said sewer to the undersigned and that such corillection does not interfere with or prejudice the use of such sewer by the undersigned. Thereupon the Board granted to the American Can Company permission to construct such sewer but referred the matter to the City Attorney with instructions to him to draw up the agreement between the City of Vernon and the American Can Company, by reason of the fact that the American Can Compa,ny desired a lateral main instead of a surface sewer.
