REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city of
Vernon, Oounty of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 19th day of Septem1)er , 1916, at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said city
.of Vernon, whioh said time and plaoe is the time and place fixed by
ordinanoe for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Furlong, Kniffin
and Leonie.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee, stevens and Durbin.

The minutes of the meeting , held on September 5th,
1916, were: laid over.
The Clerk reported that he had received the following petition
from property owners fronting on East 27th Street.
"City of Vernon, California
September 16th, 1916.
To the Honorable the Board of Trustees
of the City of Vernon:
Gentlemen:-
We, the undersigned being the owners of property fronting on
East 27th Street in the City of Vernon between the East line of Santa
Fe Avenue and the Westerly line of the Santa Fe Railroad Company's right
of way, hereby petition your Honorable body to start proceedings under
the bond provision of the 1911 act for the improvement of said street,
as follows, sewered, graded, guttered and paved with a cement concrete
base and either Warrenite or Topeka Searing Surface, said work to be
done under City of Vernon specifications and supervision.

Said petition was laid over for further consideration by the Board of
Trustees.
Ordinance No. 174 entitled an ordinance regulating the storage of
hay and other like combustible material was laid over until the next
meeting of the Board.
A petition was received from the Atchison, Topek3 and Santa Fe
Railway Company for a franchise for a spur. track through a portion of
Lot 106 of the Hay Tract of the City of Vernon, recorded in Map Book
29, pHge 2 Records of Los Angeles County.

Ordinance ITo. 171 entitled an ordinance granting a franchise
to the Southern Pacific Railroe.d Company, a corporation, its successors
fU1d e.ssigns to construct tind for ,!, lJeriod of fifty years to operate
and maintain re.ilroCJ,d tracks over, along and upon a portion of Alameda
street in the Oi ty of Vernon, California, Vias IEid over.
The Clerk reported that he had received a letter from Wm. E.
Hazlett, City Attorney of South Pasadena relative to money due from
the County of Los Angeles by reason of the reimbursement clause in
Article XIII of the State Consti tution and of acts of the legisla.ture
eni'tcted in pursuance of said Article. Said matter vms taken under
advisement by the Board.

Lots 1, 2, 3 and West 14.63 feet of Lot 4 in Block D; Lots 1, 2, 3,

1, 2, 3 and the West 14.63 feet of Lot 4 in Block F of ],~aqua.rrie ~r.
Sepulveda's Subdivision of the Ross Tract, recordea in Book 23, page
8 of Miscellaneous Records of said County and portions of Glemrood
Avenue, LinVlood Avenue and Ross street, as vacated by order of the Board
of Supervisors of said County, recorded in Book 107, page 54 of Mis-
cellnneous Records was accepted by the Board of Trustees.
In accepting the above map of Tract Ho. 311'7 the Board stated
that in the future no maps would be G.ccepted or approved unless such
maps were filed in duplicate.
Mr. McCurdy, the City Engineer, 'reported th""t the reason he had
not established the grades of 27th, 29th. 37th and 52nd Streets v"tas
because he VIas arranging for Be a right of way for a pipe line through
Vernon A7enue.
The Auditor's report was referred to the Finance Committee.
The President of the Board appointed I,~r. Leonie as a temporary
member of the Fina.nce Committee for the purpose of approving the vouchers
Y;hich }j,B.d been submitted to the city for payment.
Thereupon the following warrants were audited and ordered paid:
