19170306 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city of
Vernon~ Oounty of Los Angeles~ and State of California~ was held
on the 6th day of March ~ 191? ~ at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said city
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees, Furlong, stevens,
Kniffin and Leonie.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee~ Durbin.
President Trustee Furlong
presiding.
The minutes of the meeting , held on February 21st,
1911, were: read and approved.
Ordinance No. 182 regulating the hauling of certain products of
animals slaughtered or killed for food was read for the second time
and adopted.
The Clerk stated that he had received a petition asking that the
Board take the necessary action toward the formation of a sewer
district for the construction of an outfal1 sewer along Santa Fe
Avenue from East 49th Street to Slauson Avenue to a connection with
the outfal1 sewer on Compton Avenue in the City of Los Angeles.
The Board ordered the same filed for future action.
A petition was also received from J. de la Torre, E. O. Reimann
and W. P. Ecton for leave to haul the refuse of the city mark~t~ of
the Ci ty of Los Angeles for the purpose of feeding chiokenf! ,and hogs. The
board laid said petition over.
The Auditors and Treasurer's report were referred to the Finance
Committee.
Ordinance No. 183 entitled an ordinance providing for the inspection
of steam boilers, was introduced, read and passed its first reading.
Ordinance No. 184 enti tIed an ordinance establi shing an "Infor.ma..
tion Bureau" and providing for a secretary therefor and defining the
powers and duties of such secretary was introduced, read and passed its
first reading.
Ordinance No .185 enti tIed an ordinance regulating billboards,
advertising signboards and other si~ilar structures used for adver..
tising purposes, was introduced, read and passed its first reading.
Thereupon the meeting adjourned to meet again Tuesday,-March
3/6/13.
