REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon~ Oounty of Los Angeles~ and State of California, was held
on the 6th day of November ~ 1917 ~ at 2 o'olook P. M. of
said. day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said city
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at suoh meeting Trustees ~ LeoniS. Durbin,
Furlong and Kniffin.
There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee~ Stevens.

presiding.
The minutes of the meeting 1 held on October 16th.

and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, were approved.
:Minutes of Adjourned Regu.lar Meeting held on October 24th. 1917,
were read by the Clerk, and laid over for approval.
Communication from Harry A. Chamberlin, City Attorney, dated
November 3rd, 1917, relative to suits of the Citizens Trust ~ Savin~s
Bank va Joshua G. DeTurk, and County of Los Angeles va the Cities of
Alhambra, Vernon and others, read by the Clerk, and ordered filed.
Application of Hugh E. IJacbeth in behalf of the Los Angeles
White Sox Baseball team for permit to engage in and to hold baseball
games at the Maier Baseball Park in the City of Vernon. dated
November 3rd, 1917, read by the Clerk, and after hearing Mr.
Hugh E. Macbeth who appeared personally before the Board in s~P20rt
of his application, the same Was ordered filed.
Communication from Los Angeles Official Records Company dated
October 30th, 1917, relative to furnishing property cards to City
of Vernon,. read by the Clerk, and ordered filed.
Communication from County Counsel asking for copies of any
ordinances which the City of Vernon might have regulating jitney
busses, read by the Clerk, and referred to City Attorney Chamberlin
for reply.
Draft of an ordinance. Ro. 193, entitled "An ordinance creating
the office of City Attorney of the City of Vernon, providing for the
filling of such office by appointment of the Board of Trustees and
prescribing the qualifications, duties, powers and compensation
thereof," read for the ,second time and upon motion of Trustee Leonis
seconded by Trustee Durbin, said ordinance was passed and adopted by
the following vote:

On motion duly made, seconded and carTied, communications from

The matter of Union Oil COmlJany's request for franchise was
laid over. 1.:1'. Undenvood of the Union Oil Com:pcny appeared before
the Board and promised that his company Vlould comnmnicate to the
Board of Trustees the poli cy it \voule_ adopt in the o..)eration of its
oil pipe lines, and towards conswtiers, in the City of Vernon, in the
event franchise 'were granted them.
0pon motion duly m~de, seconded and carried, City Street Super-
intendent was ordered to CleE'l1 sand, off of 26th street.

the Board asking that the amolli~t of their license for the operation
