19180122 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes --- ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING. An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Oity of Vernons county of Los Angeless State of California. was held on the 22nd day of January 1916, at 2. 0' clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said Oity of Vernon, whioh saidPlaoe is the place fixed by ordi- nanoe for regular''"meetings of said Board to be held, pursuant to adj ournment from the regular meeting held the l,5th day of January. 191 S, There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Leonis. Durbin, Stevens. Furlong and Kniffin. There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee, None. President Trustee J. J. Furlong presiding. Th~ minutes of the meeting , held on January 15th, 1918, 191 , were: read by the Clerk and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried were approved. Draft of an ordinance was read for the second time, entitled "An Ordinance ordering that Third Street and two certain alleys in the Hay Traot Addition to Nadeau Park in the City of Vernon be closed up. vacated and abandoned, as contempl~d by Ordinance No. 191 of said City." On motion of Trustee Stevens, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, said ordinance was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Stevens, Leonis, Furlong, Kniffin and Durbin. Noes: None. Absent: None. Draft of an ordinance was read for the second time, entitled, "An ordinance ordering that a portion of 46th street in the City of Vernon,be closed up, vacated and abandoned, as contemplated by Ordinance "', No. 192 of said City," On motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Stevens, said ordinance was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Stevens, Leonis, Furlong, Kniffin and Durbin. "'Ill<! Noes: None. Absent: None. The following resolution was introduced and read by the Clerk: "RESOLUTION NO. 161. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF 'VEB1~OB /;/5/0' (I) ORDERING CERTAIN IMPROVEM]IT~TS TO BE I~E ON A PORTION OF EAST TWENTY- SEVENTH STREET .~~D SANTA FE AVENUE IN SAID CITY. SECTIon 1. The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, State of California, hereby orders that East Twenty-Seventh Street and .. Santa Fe Avenue be improved by grading and tbe construction of pave- ment., curbs, gutters and sewers as described in RESOLUTIOn OF INTID~TION NO. 154, passed by said Board of Trustees on the 20th day of November, 1917, to which said Resolution reference is hereby made for a descrip- tion of said work. SECTIOJr 2. Bonds will be issued as provided for in said Resolution of Intention No. 154. SECTION 3. It is further Resolved that there is no newspaper printed or circulated in said City OI Vernon. SECTION 4. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to posted this Resolution conspieuo~sly for two days on or near the chamber door of the Board of Trustees, and to cause a copy of the same to be posted in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to-wit; one at the north west corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Thirty- Seventh street; another at the north west corner of Santa Fe Aven~e and Thirty-Eighth street; and another at the front door of the City Hall. SECTION 5. The said City Clerk is hereby directed to post . conspicuously for five days on or near the chamber door of said Board of Trustees in the manner and form required by law, a notice with specifications, inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing said work; and said City Clerk is hereby directed to post a copy of said Notice in the three public places hereinbefore mentioned. Said Notice shall require' all proposals or bids offered to be accompanied by a certified check or bond, as prescribed by law, and for an amount not less than ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal. A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF YEB1JON ORDERING CERTAIN IA~ROVEMENTS TO BE ~UillE ON A PORTION OF EAST THIRTY- SEVENTH STREET AND Ol~ A RIGHT OF WAY EXTENDING FROM EAST THIRTY-SEVENTH STREET TO VERlW1:1 AVENUE. SECTION 1. The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, State of California, hereby orders that East Thirty Seventh Street be improved by grading and the construction of pavement, curbs, gutters, and a cement concrete culvert; and that a storm drain be constructed from East Thirty Seventh Street to Vernon Avenue, all as described in Resolution of Intention No. 156 lj2 passed by said Board of Trustees on the 2nd day of October, 1917, to which said Resolution reference is hereby made for a description of said work. SECTION 2. That the said contemplated work or improvement in the opinion of said Board of Trustees is of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trustees hereby declares that the cost of said work or improvement shall be assessed to a district wh~ch is more particularly described in said Resolution of Intention No. 156 1/2.
