19180219 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon I Oounty of Los Angeles, and State of Californial was held on the 19th day of Februar;i , 19l5 , at 2 0' clook P. M. of said day at the regular meeting plaoe of said Board in said city of Vernon. whioh said time and plaoe is the time and plaoe fixed by ordinanoe for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Furlong, Leonis. Kniffin and Durbin. There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee, Trustee Stevens. President Trustee J. J. Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting , held on February 6th, 191 8, were: read by the Cler~ and upon motion dul~ made, seconded and carried, were approved. Application of Western Chemical Products Company, dated February 14th, 1918, for permission to operate a chemical maau- faeturing plant on East 26th street in the City of Vernon, read by the Clerk. Upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seoonded by T~stee Durbin, and oarried by the following vote, suoh permit was ~antell to the Wes'tern Chemical Products Co.; Ayes: Trustees Durbin, Leonis, Kniffin and Furlong. Noes: Trustees none. Application of Leviathan Mines Company, dated February 2nd, 1918, for permission to operate an ore treatment plant on East 3,th street, was laid over. Financial report of the City of Vernon, as submitted by the City Clerk, was referred to the Finance Committee, said report being for the month ending January 31st, 1918. Permits for hauling sand gravel or dirt, over public streets in the City of Vernon, Were granted to the following: Benedict & MDorman, B. L. Knapp 122 E Randolph 8t.. Upon motion of Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, and carried by the following vote, Motorcycle Officer Fred Harris was allowed an expense account of not exceeding $10.00 per month for oil and gasoline used in the operation of his motorcycle in the performance of his official duties, Ayes: Trustees Kniffin, Leonis, Durbin and Furlong. Noes: Trustees none. City .Engineer Howard McCurdy reported that he had received several communications from S. P. Co. concerning the grade of their spur track across 25th street. After discussion, City .Engineer McCurdy was instructed to take this matter up with Engineers of the s. P. Co., and secure a satisfactory adjustment of the same. Chamberlin was awarded the work of drawing necessary proceedings for the improvement of Pacific boulevard and 46th street, for the sum of $100.00; Ayes: Trustees Leonis, Durbin, Kniffin and Furlong.
