There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Furlong, Durbin,
Kniffin and Stevens.
There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee, Leonis.

Draft of an ordinance read for the seoond time, entitled "An
Ordinanoe Calling A General Munioipal Eleotion to Elect Three
Trustees, a Clerk and a Treasurer of the Oity of Vernon, EstabliShing
and Defining the Boundaries of a Consolidated Election Preoinot
Therefor, Designating the Polling Place Thereof, Presoribing the
Notioe, to be given of Said Election, and Repealing Ordinance No. 16,
adopted February 10, 1908,"
On motion of Trustee Durbin, seoonded by Trustee Kniffin, said
Ordinance was passed and adopted by the following vote:
A1es: Trustees Furlong, Durbin, stevens and Kniffin.

Resolution inwards and figures as follows, was introduced, and
read by the Clerk: RESOLUTION NO. 166.
"RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF~ERNON
APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN THE CITY OF VERNON ON MONDAY, THE 8th DAY OF APRIL, 1918,
FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO PURCHASE
ALL NECESSARY SUPPLIES FOR SAID ELECTION.
WHEREAS, a general municipal eleotion of the City of Vernon is
to be held in said oity on Monday, the 8th day of April, 1918, for
the purpose of electing three Trustees, a Clerk and a Treasurer of
the City of Vernon, and
WHEREAS, the Board ot Trueteelil of the Oi ty of Verno)l a.. establish_,cl

a oonsolidated election precinct for the purposes of said election,
said oonsolidated election precinot being known and designated as
Consolidated Preoinct No.1., and
WHEREAS, it is neoessary and required that offioers of the Board
of Election for said Consolidated Precinct Ho. 1, consisting of two
Inspectors, two judges and two Clerks be appointed and their com-
pensation as such offioers be fixed,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOliRD OF TRUSTEES Al~D
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:

That Warren W. Webb, 5500 Santa Fe Avenue, and Laurence Andrew,
3703 South Boyle Avenue, be and they are hereby appointed Inspectors
of said Board of Election;
That James Clancy, East 26th Street, and 1trs. Lottie Smock,
2234 East 38th Street, be, and they are hereby appointed Judges of
said Board of Election;
That Mrs. Zelma Harris, 2345 East 3~th Street, and Estevan R.
Peralta, 3817 Santa Fe Avenue, be, and they are hereby appointed
Clerks of said Board of Election.
That the compensation of each of the above named officers of
said Board of Election, be, and it is hereby fixed at the sum of
Ten Dollars ($10.00), whioh sum shall be paid in the same manner and
at the same time as other claims against the City of Vernon are paid.
That the Clerk be, and he is hereby ordered to notify eaoh of the
above named officers of their appointment as such election offioers.
That the Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized, empowered and
directed to secure and furnish all necessary supplies for the holding
of said election.
I, T. J. Furlong, Clerk of the City of Vernon and ex-officio
Clerk of the Board of Trustees thereof, do hereby oertify that the
foregoing resolution was passed and adopted~by the Board of Trustees
of the City of Vernon, at an adjourned regular meeting thereof, duly

Upon motion of Trustee Kniffin, seconded by Trustee Durbin, said
resolution was passed and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Furlong, Durbin, Stevens and Kniffin.
Noes: Trustees none.
Absent: Trustees Leonis.

Application of Stauffer Chemicai.Oompany, Inc., dated March 6th,
1918, for a factory operating permit covering the manufacture of
chemicals on their property on East 26th street, more fully described
as Tract 3038, Book No. 31 page 40, Lots 1 and 2, read by the Clerk.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, this application
was laid over.
Application of American Alloy & Chemical Company, laid over.
Application of Leviathan Mines Company, laid over.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, meeting adjourned.
