19180820 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes President Trustee J. J. Furlong REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city of Vernon, Oounty of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 20th day of August , 1918, at 2 o'olook P. M. of said day at the regular meeting p1aoe of said Board in said city of Vernon,whioh said time and plaoe is the time andp1aoe fixed by ordinanoe for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at suoh meeting Trustees, Kniffin, Leonis and Furlong. There were absent from suoh meeting Trustee, Stevens and Durbin. presiding. The minutes of the meeting , held on August 6th, 1918, 191 , were: read by the Clerk, and u}on motion duly made, seconded and carried, were ap2roved. The following resolution was introduced and read by the Clerk: "RESOLUTIon HO. 170. Resolution 01: the Board of lI'rustees of the City of Vernon fixing the tax rate of the City of Vernon for the year 1918-1919 for the purpose of raising revenue and to pay the bonded indebtedness of said City. TEE BOAHD OF THUSTEES OP THE CITY OF VERlJOn DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOViS: Sec''t,ion 1. That there shall be, and there is, hereby levied upon each one Auudred dollars worhh of property in the City of Vernon, at the value assessed by the County Assessor of the County of 10s ..mgeles, State of California, and as the so.me may have been equalized by the 130ard of Supervisors of the County of La s .angeles or the State Board of Equilization of the State of California, not including property taxable for state purposes only Ullder the provisions of Section 14 of Article XIII of the Constitution of the State of California, for the purpose of raising revenue to carryon the various departments of the City of Vernon for the year 1918-l9l9, and to pay the bonded indebtedness of the said City of Vsrnon, a tax in the sum of fifty-four cents. Section 2. The Clerk shall, upon the passage of this resolution, certify the fact and date thereof and transmit a copy of the same to the County Auditmr of the County of Los Angeles, State of California. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution lio. 170,was adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of August, 1918. Upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, the said Resolution, llo. 170, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Leonis, l:::niffin and Furlong. Noes: Trustees none. Absent: Trustees Stevens and Durbin. Draft of an ordinance was read for the second time, entitled "An Ordinance establishing and fixing the grade of Pacific Boulevard from the easterly line of Santa Fe avenue te the Hortherly line of Fruitland road, public streets in the City of Vernon," and upon motion of Trustee Kniffin, seconded by Trustee Leenis, said ordinance Vias Dassed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes; Trustees Kniffin, Leonis and Furlong. Hoes: Trustees none. Absent: Trustees Stevens and Durbin. Draft of an ordinance was read for the second time, entitled "An Ordinance establishing and fixing the grade of East Forty Sixth street from the easterly line of Pacific Boulevard to a point thirty (30) feet west of the westerly boundary line of the Los Angeles Fruitland Assoc.ia.t- i on Tract, as per map record.eel in Book 3, page 156, 1:Iiscellaneous Records of the County of Los ,Angeles, in the City of Vernon, tt and upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, said ordinance, being no. 206, was passed 8.nd adopted by the follow ing vote: Ayes: Trustees Leonis, Kn.iffin and Furlong. Upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Y~iffin, said Resolution No. 172, was approved and adopted by the following vote~ Ayes: Trustees Kniffin, Leonis and Furlong. Foes: Trustees Hone.
