19181119 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city of Vernon~ Oounty of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 19th da.y of Eovember , 191 8, at 2 0' clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said city of Vernon: which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular ~eetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Kniffin, Leoni. and Furlong. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Durbin and Stevens. President Trustee Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meetings, held on October 15th, October 18th, November 5th and November Sth, 1918, were: read. b;y the Clerk and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, were approved. Communioation from Black & Black. Attorneys, under date of November 1th, 1918, relative to operation of freight auto stage line between Los Angeles and Long Beach via Vernon, read by the Clerk, and upon motion duly made, seconded and oarried. Was referred to a committee of the whole. The following resolution was thereupon introduced and read by the Clerk: ~WHEREAS Roward McCurl7 is the City Engineer of the City of Vernon, and whereas said Howard McCurdy is now in the U. 5. Military Service, in the following capacity; First Seargent, 11th Co. 5th Batallion l66th Depot Brigade, Camp Lewis, Washington. WHEREAS the public convenience of said City of Vernon requires that said Roward McCurdy be returned to his duties as said City Engineer as soon as it conveniently can be done. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Board pi Trustees of the City of Vernon, that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby, directed to communicate with the proper U. S. authorities, and advise said authorities to that effect to the end that said Howard McCurdy may be released from the service of the U. S. as soon as same can conveniently be done." Upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, and carried by the following vote, said resolution was passed and adopted: Ayes: Trustees Kniffin, Furlong and Leonis. Noes: Trustees none. Trustee Leonis was appointed temporary member o~ the Finance Committee in the absence of Trustees Stevens and Durbin.
