REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 17th day of June , 1939 , at 2 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees, Leonis, Fur+ong,
Durb' and Kniffen.
~ere were absent from such meeting Trustee, stevens.

presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
Hay 20th. 1919 , were:
read by the Clerk
and upon motion duly made. seconded and carried, were approved.
Comunication of the Deputy City Clerk regarding the purchase
of a ~3urroughs "'_dding machine to be used in the office of the City
Clerk was read by the Clerk and upon motion duly made, seconded
m~d carried the City Clerk was authorized to publish notices
calling for bids 011 the sc,le of a Ijur:coghs Adding macll1ne.
~)plications for excavation permits of the Pacific Tel. &
:;:el. Co. to e::.:c:wate at the H. S. of Vernon Ave. bet.Santa Fe A.ve.
and Boyle fat the purpose of removing 16 poles and Tesetting 2
poles, and to excavate at ITo. side of Vernon Ave. west of Santa Fe
Ave. for the purpose of laying down of pi}e was granted.
Application of Southern California Gas Co. for a permit to
excava.te in the S. S. of 26th St. 1100' E. of Boyle Ave. for the "_
purpose of gas service VIas [;ratLted.
Application of Stout &: Danforth for a building permit to
construct a factory for the manufacture of wooden products on premises
known as Lot 1, Dlock D of the Day Star Tract was granted.
Petition of the Southern California Edison Company for the sale
of a franchise granting the right for the period of fifty years to
erect, lay, construct and maintain poles, towers, crossarms, conduits
cables, wires ffi~d other appliances under, over, in, along and across
the public highways. streets, alleys and public places within the prese~
or future limits of the City of Vernon, vias read by the Clerk and
laid over.

Upon motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffen,
said budget was approved and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Furlong, Durbin, Leonis and Kniffen.
Hoes: Hone.
Absent: Trustee Stevens.
?etition of the General Petroleum Corporation for the sale of a.
franchise granting the right to lay and construct and for a period of
forty (4) years to maintain and operate two standard gauge railway

the Clerk and la.id over.
Aplxroval of bond in the sum of $500.00 of the Southern California
Gas Company was read by the Clerk and laid over.
Offer of the City Railway Company of Los ~Jngeles of a deed for
street purposes of all that portion of its right of way on Pacific
Boulevard from Santa Fe Avenue to Fruitland Avenue was read. by the
Clerk and laid over.

Request of Chas. Dufour to open and operate a lunch stand on
Santa Fe Aven.e near 53rd Street was read by the Clerk and granted.
Application of C. J. Harcus, unclated, for a permit to operate
a pool hall and social olub was read by the Clerk and laid over.
Petition of W. J. Boyle to close up, -eacate and abandon for
public street and alley purposes a certain street and certain alleys
in the City of Vernon, to wit, as follows; (1) That certain unnamed
street from th northerly line of 52nd Street to the southerly line
of Frmitland Road, running between blocks 25 and 26 of Huntington
Park Extension Noj 1, as per map thereof recoried in Book 8, page 181
of Maps, Los Angeles County Records. (2) That certain alley running
north and south from the northerly line of 52nd street to the southerly
line of Fruitland Road in said block 25 of said Huntington Park
Extension No.1. (3) That certain alley running north and south from
the northerly line of 52nd street to the southerly line of Fruitland
Road in said block 26 of said Huntington Park Extension No.1., was
read by the Clerk and laid over.
Ordinanc.e No. 210, being an ordinance declaring the intention of
the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon to close up, vac.ate and
abandon, for public street and alley purposes, a certain street and
two certain alleys in the City of Vernon running from the northerly
line of 52nd street to the southerly line of Fruitland Road, and
lying between Malabar Street and Santa Fe Avenue \vas read by the
Clerk and laid over.
Clerk's financial report On 'the City,.of Vernon for the month of
May, 1919 was read by the Clerk, and referred to the Finance
Committee.
The following demands were therupon presented to the Board
for approval and payment:
