REGULAR MEETING.

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 2nd. day of March, 1920. , D1 , at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees, Furlong, Leonis,
Durbin and Kniffin.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee, stevens.
President Trustee Furlong
presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on February l7th.1920,

The hearing of protest and Remonstrance of the Atchison,
Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company against the improvement of
Pacific Boulevard and East 46th.Street, in the City of Vernon,Cali~ornia,
as proposed by Resolution of Intention No.177, was postponed until the
third Tuesday in March, 1920, to wit; March l6th.1920.

two members of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, a Clerk
and a Treasurer of said City; establishing and defining the boundaries
of a consolidated election precinct therefor, designating the pollimg
place thereof and prescribing the notice to be given of said election

On motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffin
said ordinance, being ordinance No.21., was passed and adopted by the
following vote:
Noes; None.
Ayes; Trustees Leonis, Kniffin, Durbin and Furlong.
Absent; Trustee Stevens.
An ordinance" regulating and prohibiting excavations,declar-
ing certain excavations to be public nuisances,providing for the abate-
ment thereof and prescribing t~ penalties for a violation hereof ",was
read for the second time.
On motion of Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Kniffin

The financial report on the City of Vernon for the month
of January, 1920,was read ,by the Clerk and referred to the Finance
C onnni t tee.
The matter of auditing the County of Los Angeles Tax Books
in regard to City of Vernon Municipal Tax was referred to a connnittee
of the whole.
Application of the Southern California Gas Company for
excavation permits at West Side of Santa Fe Avenue 150' North of
37th.Street, East Side of Alameda street 600' South of 52nd.Stree~,
and Welt Side of Boyle Avenue 133' South of Salt Lake Railroad for
gas service were granted.
Application of Geo. G. Smith for permit to barrel lubricat-
ing oil at 2530 Santa Fe Avenue was granted.
Application of H. Cailland for perndssion to run temporary
sewer pipe along south boundry line of Alley running East and West in
Block 3 Aldine Square Tract was referred to the City Engineer.
Application of J. T. Jordan for permit to establish a Slaughter!
house and stock yards at the southwest corner of Boyle Avemue and East
26th.Street was taken under consideration.
Petition of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad for
a franchise for a spur track to connect with their main line and to
extend southerly acros'. 26th.Street was read and an ordinance ordered
drawn covering same.
Communication of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce was
referred to the President of the Board.
Conununication of the Pacific American Petroleum Company :t'e.gard-
ing their license was referred to Officer Harris for investigation.
