REGULAR MEETING..
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 18th day of May 1920 ,191 ,at 2 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Furlong.Leonis,Y.niffin,Durbin and Hornaday.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,

President Trustee J.J.Furlong
presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on April 20.1920
191 , were: read and approved.
The meeting was called to order and all business of the old board
being closed, rrrustee Y..niffin nominated <T. J .Furlong as perminant
chs,irman. 'l'he nomination was imt to a motion rJlil.ich wu..s seconded by
Trustee Durbin ~nd carried.
Chairman J.J 3nrlcYlg thereupon c1ss'J.rned the ch,'1ir and. tIle first business
under consideration being the appointment of a finance committee the
chairrnan appointed llr.Durbin,Mr.Hornaday and lx.ICniffin to act as a
finance committee for the ensueing ~rear.
Trustee Durbin made complaint about a hoee in the street on Santa Fe
Ave .near the .Jneric,..;.n Can Co . and was appointed by the chair to over
see the -,:epairing of same.
Application of the Ohio Fuundry Co.to construct ~ building was read.

Application of the ilohlman Manufacturing Co.was read and approved..
Applicanion of the Blue Bird TalkiIlg Machine Co.to construct a factory
building at Santa Fe .i..ve and Center ,St .was read and approved.
Applications of the Southern Calif.Gas Co.to excavate in East 37th
St.for the purpose of gas service connections at 2208 East 37th and
..212 East 37th St .was read and approved.
Application of the Thomas Haverty Co.to excavate in Santa Fe Ave in
front of the ~merican Can Co.was read and approved.

!':..)plication of the Lmerican "~ucustic Tile Co . and The Southern Pacific RIl.
Co.for permission ot build a spur track into their place of business
was laid over until the Southern ?auific Co.agreed to come to grade
in so building this spur.
The City Clerks office was instructed to call the Southernl?acifics

attention to the deplorable condition of the pavement at all spur
tracks crossings on ~ilameda St.between East 25th St and East 38th St.
and to order them to make repairs necessary to eliminate this condition.
The B.F .ilade Co .was granted a ..;jermi t to operate a tire accessory
manufacturing Co .at 2530 Santa Fe ~:...ve.
Application of the United Guano and Fertilizer Co.to conduct a place
for the slaughtering of Horses,mules,burrows,donkeys,etc.was read and
denied.
The financial report for the month of April 1920.was read by the
City Clerk and approved.
The following demunds were then read and ordered paid.
