Pursuant to act of the legislature of the State of California,
entitled "An act to provide for and regulate municipal elections in
cities of the fifth and sixth class,"approved May 27th 19l9,the Board
of.Trustees of the City of Vernon met in special session at the regular
meeting-place thereof in the City Hall on the 19th day of April,1920.
Presiding,President of Board,James J.Furlong.
Present: Trustees Leonis,Kniffin
Absent: Trustees Durbin,Stevens.
The Board thereupon made its canvass of the returns of the
general municipal election held in said City on Monday,the 12th day of
April,1920 for the purpose of electing two ITustees,aClerk and a Treasurer
Upon motion duly made and seconded,the following resolution
was adopted:

\'mEREAS, a general municipal election was held pursuant to
law: in the City of Vernon on Monday,the l.:.th day of A,pril,1920,for the
purpose of electing two Trustees,a Clerk and a Treasurer,and
WHEREAS, a canvass of the returns of said election this day
made,shows the results thereof to be as follows,to wit:-
Total Votes Cast--- 60.
Names of persons voted for;the offices to fill which, each
person was voted for;the number of votes given in the city to each of
such persons and the number of votes given in each precinct to each of
such persons are as follows:

Nmi THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF VERNON that the following persons received the highest number
of votes at the general municipal election held in the City of Vernon on
Monday,the 12th day of April,1920 for the offices set opposite their names:

And that by reason thereof,the said persons were.and they are
hereby declared to have been,duly elected to the offices set opposite
their names,for the terms prescribed by law.
I,Thomas J.Furlong,Clerk of the City of Vernon and ex-officio
clerk of the Board of Trustees thereof,do hereby certify that the fore
going resolution was adopted by said Board of Trustees at a meeting
thereof duly and regularly held in said city on the 19th day of April.

Thereupon,the Clerk presented the following statement which upon
motion duly made and seconded,was ordered spread upo3 the minutes of the
meeting:

The following is a statement of the results of the general municipa
election held on Monday,the 12th day of April,1920 in the City of Vernon
for the purpose of electing two Trustees,aClerk and a Treasurer,as shown
by canvass1tlof the returns of said election made by the Board of Trustees of
said city at a meeting thereof duly and regularly held on the 19th day of
Aprl1,1920:

Names of persons voted for;the offices to fill which,each person
was voted for;the number of votes given in the city to each of such persons

Dated April 19th 1920.
Thereupon certificates of election were issued and delivered
by the City Clerk to James J.Furlong,Charles S.Hornaday,Thomas J.
Furlong and Herman Scheider in accordance with the foregoing statement
whereupon the City Clerk administered the constitutional oath of office
to Messrs.JamesJ.Furlong,Charles S.Hornaday and Herman Scheider and
President James J.Furlong administered the same to Thomas J.Furlong,
and they and each of them subscribed their names thereto.
Upon motion duly made and seconded,the oaths of office were
ordered filed.
Upon motion duly made and seconded,and carried the meeting
adjourned until Tue4day April 20th 1920 at the hour of 3o'c.lock ?M.
at the regular meeting place of the Board of Trustees for the trans-
action of such business as may lawfully come tiefore it.
