19200601 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 1st day of June , 19120, at 2 0' clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, J.J.Furlong.Yilliffin,Hornaday,LeonistDurbin. There were absent from such meet~ng Trustee, None President Trustee J.J.Furlong. presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on May.lath &May 25th 191 , were: read and approved. Under the head of unfinished business the question of suitable drainage acaross Vernon Ave east of Santa Fe Ave was dis~ssed.Upon motion duly made and seconded this was laid over and Trustees,Furlong, Hornaday and Durbin appointed as a committee to investigate. The City Engineer presented plans and specifications for the improvement of East 52nd St.Pending the right of way permits this was laid over until the next meeting. The following building permits were granted:. To Hrs.Josephine Curijkowska a four room dwelling house at the corner of St Charles Ave and Audrey St. To Vernon Fixture and Cabinet Co. a one story frwme building at the N.W. corner of St Charles jive and Junior :.it. To e.L.Brown a four room dwelling house at 2212 East 37th St. To Wilshire Oil Co.a galvanized corrugated iron building on their property The question of a suit ble compensation for the City Engineer for the ti~e he looses dai~y in answering ~uestions on behalf of the Citys business was brought up and discussed.Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the Board granted him a monthly allowance of $30.00 per month to begin May 1.1920. An Ordinance Prohibiting the establis~~lent or maintenance of certain Businesses in Certain districts was read for the first time.
