REGULAR MEETING.
"
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 16th day of June , 19l20, at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong.Kniffin.Durbin.Hornaday and Leonis.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
None
President Trustee J.J.Fur1ong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on June 1,1920
19l were :Read and approved.
Unfinished business in the matter of suitable drainage accross
Vernon Ave.east of Santa Fe was again taken up.Trustee Durbin Was
asked 'to report on the condition as he found it and a remedy for
same.He is of the opinion that the only WRY to fix this drain in

a permanant manner is to place a small bridge accrOBS same. However
with an expenditure of approximately $40.00 enough repair work could
be sllitably done to illiminate the condition as it now exists.The
Board thereupon laid this matter over for further consideration.
The question of de.laxing a zone for Oil refineries and requiring this
zone to be equipped with the fomide system for fire was taken up and
discussed.the matter was laid over pending a oomplete investigation.
The following excavating permits were granted.
So.Los Angeles Land and Water Co.to exoavate on the Ho.side of Vernon
Ave about 390 Feet east of Alameda St for service connection.
Sjuthern Gas Co .at 5642 Santa Fe Ave .6332 Santa Fe Ave .2250 E.37th St.
and 2527 E.37th St.
Two applications of the California Dressed Beef Co.for sewer connections
on Santa Fe Ave.at their plant were read and approved.
Permission to erect a New Foundry Bldg.on Vernon Ave.was granted to
B.G.Hotz.
Permission to cut the curb at 3855 Santa Fe Ave for the purpose of
building a driveway was granted to Buttress and McClellan.
The question of opening a Bank account with the First National Bank
of Vernon was brought up and approved.Besides illiminating the necessity
to making a trip to the City every time the City deposits money.the
City should support and encourage Vernon business enterprizes and our

City being fortunate in having up to date Bill~ing facilities at its disposal.
Upon motion made by Trustee Durbin cmd seconded by trustee Yilliffin and carried
by the Board of Trustees the following resolution known as Resolution No.182
was adoptefli.
Resolution No.182.
ITHEREA3,The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon,knowing that
suitable Banking facilities are to be had v:i thin the limits of the City of
Vernon and
~~~EAS,there see~s to be no reason for the City of Vernon doing
its banking outside of the City of Vernon and thereby not availing itself
of the facilities to be found vii thin the limits of the City and
WHEREAS,it seems for the best interests of the City that a bank
account should bp maintained within the City limits of Vernon,
NOVV THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY
OF VERNON,that the City Treasurer be notified to transfer a sum of money
from the General Fund now on deoosit with the Merchants National Bank of
Los Angeles to the First Hatiocal Bank of Vernon. opening an account to be
known as City of Vernon,General Fund.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted
by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon at a regular meeting thereof,
duly and regularly held on the 15th day of June 1920.

Upon motion duly made,esconded and carried all of said demands in
$1018.60 were approved and ordered paid by the foll..ing vote:-
Ayes:- Trustees Furlong,YJliffin,Leonis,Durbin and Hornaday.
Boes:- None.
Their being no futher business the meeting was adjourned untill Tuesday,June
29th,1920 at 2:30 P.M.by a motion duly made,seconded and carried.
