19200706 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 6th day of July , 19120, at 2 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board' to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong,Durbin and Leonis.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Y~iffin and Hornaday.
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on June 15th 1920
191 , were: read and approved.
Under unfinished business the matter of suitable drainage accross
Vernon Ave.east of Santa Fe was again brought up.Trustee Durbin
reported that he had taken the matter up thoroughly w~th l~.Werdin
and that a very good job could be done of this drain by Mr.\'Jerdin
for the sum of $80.00.A motion Was made and seconded and carried that
the sum of ~80.00 be appropriated tb complete this work and that Trustee
fr~rbin should personally supervise s(~e.
A communication from the Secretary of the State Railroad Commission
regarding a hearing on the new contemplated rates of the Pacific Electric
Ry.Co.was read and ordered filed.
the following resolution known as resolution No.183 was adopted:-

7ffiEREAS,The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon being acquainted
with the fact that The First National Bank of Huntington Park, Calif.
is open for business and
WHEREAS,said Bank has solicited an account from the City of Vernon and
Whereas,there being no good reason why this Bank should not be intitled
to an account from this City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BO.ARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
VERNON,that the City Treasurer be notified to transfer a sum of money
from the General Fund now on deposit at the Merchants National Bank of
Los Angeles to the First National Bank of Huntington Park.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resilutionwas passed and adopted
by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon at a regular meeting thereof
duly and regularly held on the 6th day of Ju y 1920.

A communication from the Vernon Fixture and Cabinet Co.calling attenti~n
to the condition of St Charles St.was read and referred to the City
Engineer for investigation.
A communication from the Keystone Iron and Steel Works regarding a fenee
now obstructing Irving Street at 37th St.was read and referred to the

Chief of Folice to order the parties responsible for the fence beingthere to
remove same from the street right of way.
The following excavation permits were read and approved:-
Mike Miller application to connect sewer at 3855 Santa Fe Ave.
Southern Calif.Gas Co.applications for service at the folluwing locations
2222 East 37th St.So.Side of 26th St.2600 Ft.East Of Boyle Ave.No.side of
Vernon Ave.870 Ft.west of Boyle Ave.2527 E.54th St.No.side of Vernon Ave.

Application of W.A.Bremer to build a new factory bldg.ot the NEcorner of
37th and Alameda Sts was read and approved.
Application of the Scott Union Shaving and Sawdust Co. to cut the curbing
on the No.side of East 25th St.600 feet east of Alameda St.was read and
approved.These people were ordered notified to fetinish the cut in a satis-
factory manner.
Application of :Emmett and Podas to remodel a Bldg.at the corner of Slauson
and Alameda Sts.was read and approved.
Communication of the So.Cal.Tel.Co.regarding Bond was read and ordered answer
