19201005 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting ot the Board ot Trustees ot the City ot
Vernon, County ot Los Angeles, and State ot Calitornia, was held
on the ith day ot October , 191Q , at 2 o'clock P.M. ot
said day at the regular meeting place ot said Board in said City
ot Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance tor regular meetings ot the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Leonis.J.J.Furlong.Kniffin and Hornaday.
There were absent trom such meeting Trustee,
Durbin.
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes ot the meeting, held on Sept.20th 1920
191 , were: suspended
The question of the Southern 2acific Spur track to be laid in the
alley between East 3'lth and East 38th st was laid over.
Applioation for an exoavation permit for a service conneotion at
2306 East 3ath St.tly the Southern Calif.Gas CQ. was granted.
The Financial report of the City for the mon~h ~f September 1920
was presented and ordered feferred to the finance committee.
The question of scraping East ~nd st.to smooth out the existing
ruts was referred to Trustee Durbin for attention.
The attention of the Board was brought to the condition exi.sting
at the noon hour each day when employees from the various industrial
plants within the City congregate on the sidewalks of the City and

eat their lunoh.The general appeaaance of fifteen to twenty of these
men strethed out on the sidewalk eating and gaaerally littering the
.street with'waste refuse from the lunch pail was discussed. The Police
Officer was ordered by the board to take action toward discouraging
these men from continuing this practice.
These being no further business a motion was duly made seconded and
carried to adjourn the meeting until OQt.l9th.l920.
