up.Mr.Durbin reported that at the ~resent time he was not fulli
qualified to adxise regarding same ~s he did not hdve all of the
data available.The motion was duly wade to lay this matter over until

City of Vernon contrarj to Ordinance TIo.214 was discussed.Orders were
issued that this company be stopped imnlediately pending a hearing as to
why they are violating our ordinances.
The follmving resolution known as Resolution of Intention Ho.188 was
Read and upon-Motion duly made by trustee Hornaday seconded by Trustee

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon,that
the public il),terest and convenience rell.uires ,and that it is the intention
of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon to order the following street
work to be done,to wit~-
That the pub lis unnamed allet running and extending in an easterly
-and vlesterly direction from the Easterly boundary line of Ross Street to the
westerly boundEEY line of the public unnamed alley extending from the south
erly line of East Thirty seventh street to the northerl~l line of East
Thirty Eighth Street between Irving Street and Santa Fe Aveenue,and parallel
to,and with East Thirty seventh and East Thirty eighth Streets,in Blocks
~vo(21 and Three(31 of the Aldine Square Tract as per map recorded in Book
29,page 12,Miscellaneous Records of Los "lilgeles County,State of California
and Tract No.65,as per map recorde~ in Book 13,Page 137,of ~aps,records of
said county and state,be opened and widened to a uniform width of 18 feet.
The lands necessary and convenient to be taken and used for said
purpose are described as follows,to wit:-

adjacent to,an unnamed alley running and extending easterly from the east
line of Hoss street to the west line of Irving Street through Blihc.k Two of
the said Aldine Square Tract and said 'l'ract Uo.65,and parallel to,and with
East Thirty seventh and East Thirty eighth Streets,in the City of Vernon;
Also two strips of land three feet in width lying on either side of,and
adjacent to,an unnamed alley running and extending easterly from the east
line of Irving Street to the west line of an unnamed alley extending North
and South in Block Three(31 of the siad ':-ildine Square Tract,in the City of
Vernon. .:illd the said Board of Trustees does hereby determine and declare
that said proposed work and improvement is of more than local or ordinanry
public benefit,and will effect and benefit the lands and district herein
after described,and which district is hereby declard to be the district
affected and benefited by said work and improvement,and that therefore the
entire damages,costs and expense od said work and improvement shall be,and
are hereby made chargeable against,and shall be assessable upon the said
lands and district,which ,district is within the City of Vernon,County of
Los Angeles,State of California,and the exterior boundaries of the l::.mds
affected and benefited by said work and improvement are particularly describ

to the point of beginning, saving, excepting and excluding from said district
all public streets,avenues and roads therein included and contained.
All of the herein groposed work shall be done in .flursuanoe of an
act of the legislature of the State of Californiapentitled nAn act to
provide for the laying out,openingpextendingpwidening,straightening or
closing uppinwhole or in part puny street,square,lane,alley,court or
place w~thin municipalitites,and to condemn and acquire any and all land
and property necessary or convenient for thw.t-purpose,"Approved March
6th,l889,and the several acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto.
There being no newspaper 9rinted and circulated in the city of
Vernon,the City Marshall,who is hereby designated,selected and a.fl.flointed to
discharge the duties'oi:Street Superintend-entpis hereby directed to post
or cause to be posted notices of the passage of this resolution in three
of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit:. the IJorthwest
corner of Thirty-eighth Street and Santa Fe Avenue,the llorthwest corner of
Thirty seventh Street and Santa Fe Avenue and at the entrance of the City
Hall at the Northwest corner of Thirty eighth and Irving::..; Streets and there
kept posted for four successive wweks and to give such other and further
notice in the manner and form required by law.
I,Thomas J.Furlong,Clerk of the City of Vernon and exofficio clerk
of the Board of Trustees thereof,do hereby certify that the foregoing
resolution Was adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon at a
regular meeting thereof duly and regularly held on the 7th day of December
1920.
