19210719 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes ",l.~' REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 19th day of July 192~ 191 , at 2 o'clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, J.J.Furlong.LeOnis.Kniffin.Durbin and Hornaday. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, , None President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on July 5th 1921 191 , were: read and ap1?roved. Application of J.L.V.Mann for a permit to conduct a resturant at the coneI' of St Charles St and Vernon Ave.was read and denied. Application of the American Encaustic Tile Co. for a permit to excavate for a sewer connection at 51st St and Alameda St. was read and approved. Applications of th Southern California Gas Co. for permits to excavate at 2425 Ea.st 25th St and 2551 Santa Fe Ave for gas service was read and approved. Application of the Davidson Bonstruction Co. for a Building permit at Lot 25 Blk. 50 Huntington ::?ark Ext. No.2 was read and approved. ~\.pplication of Uutler Bros. for a Building permit at the Vernon School House was read and approved. Application of the Filler Clay Co. for a building permit on Jabouera Road near the Santa Fe Ry.Co. right of way Was read and approved. Application of Boggs and Spear for a building permit at 50th St and Santa Fe Ave wt!s read and approved. Ordinance Eo. 221 being an ordinance fixing the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation as revenue to carryon the various departments of the City.of Vernon for the yea.r 1921-1922 and to pay the bonded in- debtedness of' said city was read for the second time. Ordinance No.222 being an ordinance of the City of Vernon regulating the making of Street improvements under private contract was read for the second time. Financial report for the month of June was read and referred to the finance committee. Motion was duly made by Trustee Kniffin. seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried that the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon grant the Southern Pacific Railway Co. a temporary permit to construct one spur tra.ck to serve the Dan Johnson property in the City of Vernon. The granting of a permanant permit being held pending the granting by the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. of a certain right of Vlay with certain reservatio~ accross their property by grant deed to the City of Vernon. A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon,County of 2:os Angeles,and State of California,was held on the 22nd day of July 1921 at 2.:00 P.M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon,which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for special meetings of the said Board to be held.
