19210816 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 16th day of A.u.gu.st 1921 , 191 ,at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong,Kniffin,Hornaday & Durbin
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
J .B. Leonis
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
July 19th & 2~nd & Aug.2nd & 9th 19321, were: read and approved.
Application of the Southern Calif.Gas Co. for an excavation permit
on Jaboneria Road from East 26th St. Yorth 1135 feet was read and
approved.
Petition to get the Vernon Ave street car to stop at East Vernon Ave
and St.Charles Ave was read and referred to the City Clerk to
communicate with the Railway Co.
Application of Sidney Warren of 2321 East 37th St to build a small
frame building to be used as a lunch reom at 3845 Santa Fe Ave was
read and denied.
Application of ~Aff Brass Foundry to placed a storage tank inside of
their property line at East Vernon Ave and S~ Charles Ave was read
and approved.
Application of the South Los Angeles Land and Water Co. for and
excavation permit on the West side of Santa Fe Ave and on 51st and 52nd
Sts. was read and approved.
Letter of J.T.~iesley asking for damages to his automobile because of
having stripped the top off same by passing beneath an overhanging
limb of a tree at Vernon Ave and Santa J!'e Ave was read. and ordered
answered and filed.No appropriation available for any such complaints.-
RESOLUTIon No. 197.
Resloution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon fixing
the tax rate of said city for the year 1921-22 for the purpose of
raising revenue to carryon the various departments of said city and to
pay the bonded indebtedness thereof.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF VERlWn DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOViS:-
Section 1. That there shall be, and there is hereby,levied upon each one
hundred dollars worth of property in the City of Vernon, at the value
assessed by the County Assessor of the County of Los .Angeles,State of
California,and as the same may have hean equalized by the Board of
Supervisors of said county and state or the State Board of Equalization
of the State of Californai,not including property taxable for state
purposes under the provisions of Section 14 of Article XIII of the
Constitution of Californ.... for the purpose of raBsing revenue to carry m
the various, departments of the City of Vernon for the year 19Z1-22, and
to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of Vernon, the amount of which
having been fixed and determined by Ordinance No.221.,atax in the sum
of 41 cents.
Section 2. The Clerk shall,upon the passage of this resillution,certify 11
the fact and date thereof,and transmit a copy of the same to the county
auditor of the County of Los .Angeles,Sta.te of California..
