REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 20th day of Sept.19~1 , 191 , at 2 o'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Kniffin.Durbin.~ornaday and Leenia.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
J.J.Furleng.
President Trustee C.E.Hornaday.Pro tem. presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
liIr.Hornaday was appointed temporary chairman in the absence of :Mr.
J.J.Furlong.
Under unfinishe~ business the matter of the objections to the op~ning
and widening of East 47th St. east of Santa Fe Ave.was brought up.
Attorney Lucey appearing' for the Santa Fe Ry.Co.withdrew on behalf of
the Santa Fe Ry.Co. the objection said Ry.Co. had previously filed.
:Mr.Jordan of the Jameson Oil Co. stated on behalf of his company that
he objected to the improving of the street where a full paving was
put in.He stated however that he had no objection to paving the street
one half the width now contemplated.Upon motion made and seconded. the
matter was continued for two weeks.
In the matter of the application of the'Atlas Mixed Mortar Co. for a.
permit to cut the curb for a driveway in front of their plant at Santa
Fe Ave and East 2.9th St.upon motion duly made and seconded the matter
was referred to the City Engineer for checking and reporting back to
the Board.
Application of the Western P~pe & Stee~ Co. for a permit to build on
Tract 4~93 was read and approved.
Application of J.P.Alpeter for a permit to build new construction at
~246 East 38th Stwas read and approved.
Application of Mrs.E.A.Morrison to build a new building at 2916 Santa
Fe Ave. for the purpose of a resturant was read and approved.
Application of M.Miller for a sewer connection permit at 2918 Santa Fe
Ave.was read and approved.Application
Application of E.J.Stanton Be Son for permission to cross Ross St. with
a. spurtraek was read and approved.
Application of A.G.Frilot for a deputy City Marshall commiloision and
badge was read and denied. -
Motion was duly made,seconded and ca:L'ried that the sum o~ $~69.5,9 being
the amount heretofor paid into the general funaby mist**.be ,transferred
to a HFund for the opening and widening of a alley betW!Ei.; Ea.st 37th
& East 38th Sts.1f and proper officers be instructed to.,,~....w:the warrents.
In the ma.tter of approving the Annual Report of the Aud'ltor was brought
to the attention of the Board and motion was duly made and seconded that
that the Aud.itor certify. to the cash on hand and make changes in the
report to that effect before the Board finally approves th~ 'report.

Ordinance No.224 being an ordinance fixing and prescribing the time and
place of the meetings of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon and
repaaling any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here

assigns. the right .privilege and lJermission to lay. construct .maintain and
operate a railroad spur track across 50th St.in the City o:li. Vernon was
read for the first time.

establishing the office of Superintendent of Streets of the C:ii.ty of Vernon
prescribing the duties and providing for the appointment thereof.was read
for the first time..
The follwuing resolution Was read and upon motion duly m~de.seconded and
carried was ordered adopted:
RESOLUTION NO.199.
NHEREAS. The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon being acquainted with
the fact that the Industrial Bank of the City of Vernon is in a position
to legally handle more public money than is at yresent on hand and
';1HEREAS.They have solicited a further deposit from the City of Vernonand
WHERE.A.S. there being no good reason why this be.uk should not be entitled to
a larger deposit from the City of Vernon
NOll THEREFOR :BE IT RESOLVE}) BY TIlE B('~:Jill OF TRUSTEES OF TEE CITY OF VERNON
That the City Treasurer be notified to trcmsfer a sum of money from the
general fund now on deposit at the lIerchants National Bank of Los Angeles
to the Industrial Bank of Vernon.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by
the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon at u regular meeting thereof
duly and regularly held on the 20th day of September 19~1.

i1.HEREAS.E.J.Stanton & Son have asked permission to lay a spur track across '
Ross Street in the City of Vernon for the purpose oel connecting the
property owned by them and
~7HERE..A.S. there is no reson why this track should not be )1.a.ced across Ross
Street to benefit E.J.Stanton & Son
T11EREFOR BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOA.-qD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF VERNOlt.
That the right,privilege and permission be".and the same is".hereby granted
to E.J.Stanton & Son,their successors and assigns to lay construct.
maintain and operate a railroad spur track across Ross Street in the City
o~ Ve.rnon.County of Los Angeles and State of California~connecting the
property owned by E.J.Stanton & Son on the west side of Ross Street with
the property owned by E.J.StantoIl & Son on the east side .of Ross Street.
That siad grantee. their successors and assigns,will plank and
replank~gravel and regravel~pave and repave all ~ortions of the street
occupied by said tracks~for a distance of two (~) feet on each side there
_ of with the same material and under the same specifications and in the s~
manner as said streetis now~or may hereinafter be pl~uked or replanked
graveled or regraveled,paved or repaved,and that a.ll such work shall be
done under the instructions of and to the satisfaction of the Board of
Trustees of the City of Vernon.
That any neglect.failure or refusal on the part of the grantee
their successors or assigns~to observe or comply with any of the terms
or conditions in the resolution aontained shall effect a forfeiture of the
rights".privileges and permission hereby grci.nted".8.nd the said city,by
its Board of 'rrustees ,may thereupon declare such rights and )rivileges
forfeited,and may exclude said grante~,their successors and assigns from
any furhter use of the street occupied by said tracks,and the grant hereby
made shall thereupon become and remain null, void and of no effect.
