REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of CaliforY~5o I~i.held
on the 3rd day of Jan.1922 , 191 , atH o'clock P. M. of
said day at.the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong,Kniffin,Durbin,Hornaday and J.B.Leonis.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
None
President Trustee J. J .Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
Dec.6,13,and GOth 1921
191 ,were: read and approved.
Under unfinished business the matter of the paving of East G7th Street
was brought up. There were present at the meeting Messrs.Lucer for the
Santa Fe Ry.Co. Simons for the Jameson Oil Co.and John Flammer,and
Geo .:Machris for the i(ilshire Oil Co. iJ!he Santa He Ry .Co . Jameson Oil Co.
and John Flammer wanted to re imburse the City for the expense incurred
to daae with the proceedings and have same dropped.The iiilshire Oil Co.
wants the paving done as originally planned. The matter was referred to
the City Engineer who was absent from the meeting to report on the
frontage and to have the majority rule.Final action was deferred until
the next regular meeting.
application of the O.K. & L.A.Sawdust Co. for a building permit on a
portion of Lot 3 of the Lopez Subdivision was read and approved.
The following applications for excavation permits of the Southern Calif.
Gas Co. were read and approved. ~o3l E.b4th St.Cor.Santa Fe Ave and
Fruitland Road,Santa Fe Ave near 25th St and 6000 Pacific Blvd.
Regarding the S.P.8pur Trac~ right of way in the alley between East 37th
and Ea.st 38th st from Ross st.east to the .:~lley running north and south
just west of Santa Fe Ave,The City Attorney reports that he has not as
yest been able to file the condemna.tion proceedings against the several
property owners who will not sign the ddeds.
Applica.tion of Thomas Bain,1574 E.50th Place for a permit to opera.te a. small
lunCh stand on the property of the Calif.Cottom Oil Co. was read and approv.
providing he maintains the stand on the aforesa.id proeprty only.
The City Clerk was notified to write the Board of Public Rorks of the
Oi ty of Los Angeles to be present at our next regular meeting to ta...~e up
the question of Drainage into the outfall sewer.
The City Clerk then reported that he had checked the names on a petitio~
calling an election relative to the question of hauling garbage and found
that there was a suffieient number of names on said petition to 8all said
election.
An Ordiance calling a special election in the City of Vernon on the 15th
day of l!'ebruary 1922 for the purpose of voting upon the jJropoation of
hauling garbage into the City of Vernon for the purpose of feedinglLimals
to be known as Ordinance llo.230 was read for the first time.
There being no further business motion was duly made,seconded and
that the meeting adjourn until l~esday moring Jan.lO.1922 at 9.00
being an adjourned regular meeting.
