REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 21st day of Feb.1922 , 191 , at fif9o:,oc~o~k:Mp. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong,Knlffin.Leonis and Durbin.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Iornad&7.
President Trustee J.J.Furlong. presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on

191 , were: read and approTed.
Applioation of the General Petroleua Corp. for a francaise to l~ a
pipe line on ~ast 26th St. was read and laid over.
Applioation of the Wilshire Oil Co. for a franchise to lay a pipe line
on East 26th St. was read and laid over.
Application of Frank Smith for a building permit at 2316 East 37th at
was read and approved.
Application of the Southern California Telephone Co. for an excavation
permi t on Slauson Ave east of Alameda st. was read and referred to the
City Engineer.
Applieations of the Southern California Gas Co. for excavation permits
at 2369 E.blst St and N.~.Cor. Facific Blvd. & blst st. was read and
approved.
Application of the Vernon Commercial Co. for a permit to install a 0.00
ton crackling press was read and denied.
A letter complaining about the condition of St Charles Ave.and Junior
St. was read and referred to the City Engineer for investigation and a
report.
Application of the Atchison,Topeka and Santa .h'e Ry.Co. for a franchise
to construct a spur track to cross East 26th St. at Hobart Station was
read and upon motion duly made by Trustee Durbin seconded by Trustee
Kniffin an ordinance was read for the first tim.e granting the Santa Fe.
By.Co. the necessary franchise.
The attention of the representative of the Santa Fe Ry.Co. who was present
at the meeting was called to the condition of the safety signal at the
Santa Fe Ry. crossing at East 26th st near the Southern Glass Co. plant.
Said signal being out of coniition most of the time making it extremely
hazardous in crossing the railroad tracks at this point. The Santa Fe.
Ry.Co. representatiTe made notations of this condition and promised that
the same would be remedied at once.
The financial report on the City of Vernon for the month of January 1922
was read and upon motion duly made,seconded and carried was referred to
the finance committee.
The City Attorney was advised to draw ordinances to cover the following
matters. Ist.an ordinance covering the erection of only Brick or fire
proof buildings on Santa Fe Ave. from the northerly city limits to the
southerly city limits. 2nd.an' ordinance authorizing any police officer
of the City of Vernon to enter at any time any public place or place where
the public Qongregate for the purpose of inspection.

TIE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TIE CITY OF VERNON DO :lEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:-
That the conveyances to the property described and accepted in resolution
Ho.207 be used for,and the same is hereby ordered and authorized for
street purposes only. That said property be and the same is hereby ordered
used in the making of a street.Said street to be and the same is hereby
authorized to be known as East Fifty second street.

the fifth and sixth class,- Approved May 27th 19l9,the Board of Trustees
of the City of Vernon met in regular session at the regular meeting pla.e
in the Vernon City Ia.ll on the 21st day of February,1922.
Presiding,President of the Board James J.Furlong.
Present: Trustees Leonis,Kniffin,Durbin.
Absent: Trustee Iornaday.
The Board thereupon made its canvass of the returns of the special munici-
pal election held in said City on Wednesday,the 15th day of February,1922
for the purpose of voting upon two propositions known as Proposition Bo.l
and Proposition No.2.
Upon motion duly made,seconded and carried the fmllowing resolution was
adopted:
RESOLUTION NO. 209.
WIEREAS,a special election was held in the City of Vernon for ~
the purpose of voting upon the following propositions:
Proposition Bo.l.Shall Ordinance No.229,an ordinance
prohibiting the hauling of garbage into the City' of
Vernon from any place outside of said city to be used
in the city of Vernon for the purpose of feeding hogs
or for any other purpose whatsoever,be adopted?
PROPOSITION BO.2. Shall Ordinance No.23l,an ordinance
establishing a district within the City of Vernon where
stock yards,slaughter houses,and tanneries may be estab-
lished and maintained,be adopted?
WIEREAS,it appears that said election was held and conducted
in accordance with the laws of the state of California that the Board of
Trustees give su.ch notice of elec,tion,appoint a Board of Eleetion and
establish an eleetion precinct and polling place and that said election
was held and conducted and the votes cast therein were received and can-
vassed and returns thereon made at the time,fora and manner as required
by law; and
Whereas; the Board of Trustees did meet for the purpose of
canvassing the votes cast at said special election whereupon it was found
that the votes cast at 'said election were as follows:

WIEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the
votes cast at said special municipal
election that the propositions submitted at said election
did receive a majOrity of all votes cast at said election.
NOW TIEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY TIE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
TIE CITY OF VEP~ON, that at the special election held in
the City of Vernon on Wednesday the 15th day of February,
1922 that proposition No.1, designated on the ballot at
said election as ordinance No. 229 an proposition No.2
designated on the ballot at said election as ordinance No.
231 has been duly and legally carried and the City Clerk
is hereby instructed to cause a record of the canvass of
the votes to be made in the minutes stating the proposition
submitted to the electors of the City and showing the whole
number of votes cast thereon and the number of votes cast
therein ef-~~e~e in ~avor of proposition No.1 and No.2
and the number of votes cast therein against proposition
No. 1 and No.2.
The City Clerk is directed to certify to the passage of
this resolution and Ordinance No. 229 and No. R31 and there-
upon the same shall be in full force and effect. .

which may,from time to time,be given by said City Engineer.

provided for,is to be constructed,to such an extent and in such a manner as
may be required by the plans,profiles,cross-sections and specifications.
