REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 20th day of June .1922. , 191 , at 2 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.W.Kniffin,P.J.DurbiD and J.J.Furlong.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Hornaday and Leonis.
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
June 6th 1922
191 , were: read and approved.
By a motion duly made by Trustee Furlong and seconded by Trustee Kniffin
and carried, Trustee Durbin was appointed as a member of the Finance
Commit~ee in Trustee Hornadays place.
Lpplications of the Southern California Gas Co. for excavation permits
at 2341 E.37th St.,232.3 E.52nd St.,and 2424 E.53rd St.,were read and appro.
ed.
Application of J.B.Whipple for a building permit at 2460 E.30th St for the
purpose of a warehouse was read and approved.
Application of Wm Abdale for a building permit at 2353 E.37th St. for the
purpose of a. dwelling house was read and approved.
Application of D.e.Spurgeon for a building permit at Santa. Fe Ave.and
Slauson Ave on the northwest corner for the purpose of a resturant was read
and ordered filed.
Appli-.ation of Peter G.Goet"ten for a building permi"t on East J::.6th St.for
the purpose of a garage was read and approved.
Application of Hales & Miller for a building permit on East 25th S"t.between
Santa Fe Ave and Alameda St.for the purpose of a horse and mule market was
read and approved.
Application of E.Deffebach & Son for a building permit at 2027 E.25"th St.
for the purpose of a horse and mules market was read and approved.
Application of C.T.Thayer for a building permit at 2041 E.25th St. for the
purpose of a horse and mule market was read and approved.
Applica.tion of Earl F . Snowden for a building permit at 2105 E.25th St for
the purpose of a horse and mule market was read and approved.
Ordinance No.238 being an ordinance granting the So..~~ Pacific Railroad
Co. the right.privilege and permission to lay and construct a. railroad
spur track in the City of Vernon across Santa Fe Ave. to take care of the
California Dressed Beef Co. was read for the second time and upon motion
duly made by Trustee Durbin and Seconded by Trustee Kniffin and carried by
the Board';said ordinanc.e was passed for the secpnd reading.
Ordinance No.238 was then read for the 3rd time and upon motion duly made
by Trustee Khiffin,seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried was ordered
passed for the 3rd and final reading.
Financial Report for the month of May,1922 was read and referred to the
financ.e committee.
Permit application of the Public Service Dept.of the City of Los Angelas
for permiSSion to lay and maintain a water pipe line in and along the

no~therly ten feet. of 25th Street from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Ave.and in
and along that part of Alameda Street and Santa Fe Ave.in the City of Vernon
lying northerly of a line ten feet southerly of and parallel with the
northerly line of said 25th Street prolonged westerly across said Alameda
Street and easterly across Santa Fe Ave. was read and approved.
Report from the deputy City Clerk relative to the amount on hand to take c~
of the interest and principal comming due July 1.1922 on the Stree.t Bonds
was read and ordered filed.
Report from the Deputy City Clerk relative to the question of Iousing was
read and laid over.
Ordinance No .237 was read for the third and final reading and upon mot.ion
duly made by Trustee Durbin and seconded by Trustee 12nifIan and carried by
the Board said ordinance was adopted at the third reading and ordered posted
accDrding to law.
An ordinance regulating the establishing and maintaining of Pool Rooms or
Balls in the City of Vernon was read for the first time.
Report of Dr.L.J.viillaimstCity Health Officer.for the month encfing Junet18th
1922 was read and ordered filed.
Application of the Southern California Telephone Co.for an excavation permit
on the east side of Santa Fe Ave.140 feet north of Vernon Ave.for the
purpose of rendering service to the California Dressed Beef Co. was read
and approved.

duly madetseconded and carried were ordered paid.
There being no further business motion was duly madetseconded and carried
that the meeting adjourn until 9:00 A.lvI.Wednesday July 5th 1922 as the
next regular meeting day falls on a holIday.
