19220718 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held ,,~:30 A.M. on the 18th day of JUly .19~2 , 191 , at .0' clock t. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Durhin~Kniffin.Leonis and J.J.Furlong There were absent from such meeting Trustee, I.ornaday President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on June~20th~1922 & July 5th 1922 191, were: read and approved. Application of the Southern California Gas Co. for excavation permits at 2330 E.3'7th St and on Alameda. St 2il feet south of East 52nd St. were read and approved. . Application of John Ji.Meyers 12il East 50jh st for a permit to build a small building on East 5~nd St on the K.& M.Pott.ery lease for the purpose of a resturant was read and approved. Application of J.A.Farnsworth 8i'71i So.Horton for a permit to build a small lunch and soft drink stand on Slauson Ave 150 feet west of Santa b'e Ave was read and ordered filed. AfP~ication of the Southern California Telephone Co. for a permit to insta~ 12 inch pipe across Vernon Ave east and west of St.Charles Street was read and approved. Application of I.M.Levy 52.08 Santa Fe Ave.for a license to run a resturant at 5208 Santa Fe Ave was read and approved. Application of A.Frumento for a permit to run a small fruit stand on the roadside at East 26th St and Downey Road was read and approved. An Ordinance granting the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. the right,privilege and permission to lay and construct a railroad spur track in the City of Vernon.(To serve the Western Pipe & Steel Co.) was read for the first time. Monthly report of Dr.L.J.Williams,J.elath Officer of the City of Vernon was read and ordered filed. Financial report on the City of Vernon for the month of June.19~ was read and ordered referred to the finance committee. A:ftplication of the Union Oil Co. for a permit to build an oil sta.tion on the northwest corner of Santa Fe Ave and Slauson Ave was read and approved. Ordinance 110.239 being PJJ.1 ordinance fixing the amount of monay necessary to be raised by taxation as revenue to carryon the various departments of the City of Vernon for the year 1922-23 and to pEq the bonded indebted- ness of said city was read for the second time and upon motion duly made seconded and carried was passed for the second reading. Motion was then duly made~seconded and carried that Ordinance 110.239 was reL.Q for the third time and adopted.
