REGULAR MEETING.
. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of ca1t!&onl~.was held
on the 1.9 day of Sept .1922 , 191 , atjj#o' clock.. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,

The minutes of the meeting, held on
Application of M.1liller to excavate at 2434 E.Yernon Ave.was read and
referred to the City :Engineer.
Applications of the Southern Calif.Gas Co. to excavate for service cormec..
ions at 2039 E.Ternon AVe,2003 E.vernon Ave and5lst st West of Santa Fe
Ave. were read and approved.
Application of the Brent Furniture Co. for a building permit at 2228 East
37th St was read and approved.
Application of G.A.Keckler for a building permit to build a small lunch
stand at East 38th St and Alameda St on the Moore property was read and
referred to the police department.
Application of Geo.E.Martin for a building permit at 2250 East 37th St
was read and approved.
Application of the General Petroleum Corp. for permission to erect 2. large
crude oil storage tanks inside of their property line at 37th & Santa. Fe
Ave was read and ordered filed.
Application of the Cotton Oil Co. for the starting of street work on East
52nd St. was read and laid over.

adopted.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a full,true and correct copy of
Resolution No.227 passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the
City of Vernon at a meeting thereof duly and regularly held on the 19th
day of Sept.1922.

Ordinance granting the Southern P ei.fic Ry .Co. the ri ht to make several
changes in their spur tracks at East 25th St and Alameda st was referred
to the City Engineer for checking and report.
Ordinance granting the Southern Pacific Ry Co. the right to cross East
25th St with a spur track to feed the Tononi pDoperty was referred to the
City Lngineer for checking and report.
Ordinance Ho .242 granting the/iilshire Oil Co. the rig:{1t to lay a pipe
line on East 26th St. was read for the second time and upon motion duly
made,seconded and carried was ordered adopted for the 2nd teading.
Financi&& report on the City of Vernon for the month ending August 31st
1922 was read and referred to the finance committee.

Monthly report of Dr.L.J.Williams City Health Officer was read and
ordered filed.
Copies of the State Railway Commissions decisions No.109iO and 10961
were read and ordered filed.
Application of the Medical Service Corp. 400 Pantages Bldg.Los Angeles
for a building permit to build a Hospital on East Vernon Ave. across the
street from the present pluilbing shop of the Whiting 11eoo. Co. was read ard
referred to the City Engineer for checking and report.
Letter addressed to the Board of Trustees from Lawrence L.Larrabee an
attorney regarding an injury sustained by a client of his one Arthur
Gehrman was read and ordered filed.
RESOLUTION NO.22a
TEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TilE CITY OF YEill10N DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:-
That John Alverez be,and is hereby appointed as Street cleaner of the City
of Vernon,to start work on Sept.20th.1922 and to so continue through the
existance of a contract entered into by him for himself and J.J.Furlong
Presdient of the Board of Trustees for the City of Yernon.That according
to said contract he is to furnish wagon and team and man 8 hours per day
and six .days a week.SaidTeam,wagon and man is to be furnished with the
necessary tools by the City of Yernon to keep the streets cleaned.gutters
and culverts clear and clean so that water might have a free passage and
otherwise keeping of all trash,litter and dirt as far as possible picked
up from the streets of the City. The compensation to John Alverez for said
Team.wagon and :r.'lan for a hours per day.o days per week is to be $200.00
per month payable in the regular manner ofpayrnent of Gi ty demands.
IT IS FURT![ER RESOLVED TEAT
In the event and at the discression of l~.J.J.Furlong where an emergency
exists or necessity artises that John Alverez be given a man to help h~
do said work that might exist through an emergency and that the salary of
said man shall be paid by the City of Vernon during the term of his
employment.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of Resoluth

Ordinance No.243 being an ordinance regulating the construction,alteration,
repair,moving of buildings and the use thereof;Providing for the issuing of
permits for the same,establishing fire limits with the City of Yernon was
read for the second time and upon motion duly made,seconded and carried Was
ordered adopted at the second reading.
Ordinance No.243 was read for the third time and upon motion duly made,seconded
and carried was ordered read for the third time.
There being no further busines.s motion was duly made,seconded and carried that
the meeting adjourn.
