19221017 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of Calif8f~~' was held
on the 17 day of Oct .1922 ,191 ,atliJo' clock ~. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meet~ngs of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Durbin~Kni~fin and Leonis.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
J.J.Furlong and Iornada~

The minutes of the meeting, held on
Oct.3rd and 4th 1922 191 ,were: read and-approved.
Applications of the Southern California Gas Co. for excavation permits at
241. E.S2nd St and S.S..of Ternan Ave 300 ft. east of Santa Fe Ave were
read and approved.
Application of the Union Tank & Pipe Co. for a building permit at 2801
Santa Fe Ave. was read and approved.
Application of R../.Martin for a building permit on Lots 22 and 24 of
Blk.ll of the ~.M.Ames Sub.of the Glassel Tract was read and approved.
Application of ii.J.Iamilton for a permit to cut the curb in 'front of
3825 Santa Fe Ave. for a driveway was read and approved.
Application of the 11edical Service Corp. for a building permit on E.Ternon
Ave was read and laid over.
Peti tion to have Irving St. paved south of East 38th st. was read and
referred to the City Attorney as the City Engineer is to file the plans et;
with the Attorney so that the l\ttorney can draw up the necessary ordinance
Petition to dispose of drainage water on Ross St. south of East 38th St.
was read and referred to the City Engineer.
A resolution sent to the Board by the City Attorney's Assn. was rea.d and
referred to the City Attorney.
Financial Report on the City of Vernon for the month of Septamber was read
and referred to the Finance Committee.
Monthly report of Dr .L.J .Williams the Ci ty :le~th Officer was read and
ordered filed.
Applica.tion of the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. for a permit to construct two
vegeta.ble sheds at 25th & Alameda Sts.was read and laid oyer.
Attorneys Louis Boardman' and Edward Reeves asked permission of the Board
of Trustees to use the De Turk Sand Pit on East 2ith St. for a dumping
ground for a certain class of rubbish now being dumped on the Cit~ of
Los Angeles dump lying j~Bt north of the Cit~ limits of Ternan at the
Los Angeles river. Said permission was denied after the Board heard
arguments pro and con on this-subject.

An Ordinance regulating the construction of buildings on certain st.reets
in the City of Yernon and l)roviding a penalty for a violation thereof was
read and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried vvas approved for the
second reading.
There bemng no further business motion was duly made,seconded and carried
that the meeting adjourn until Wednesday,November,8th.1922 at 10;00 A.M.
as the regular meeting day,Tuesday November 7th 1922 is Election Day.
