A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of cali5~5~ia, was 1:;ld on the lith day of Janu&17 , 19125, at if: 0' clock B M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Durbin,lfuiffin and JLJ .~~long. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Hornada.y and Leonis. President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on Dec.19.1922 and Jan.2.1923 191 , were: read and approved. Applications for excavation permits for the Southern Ca.lifornia. Gas Co.at 2700 Santa. :b1e Ave,2.434 East 54th St,l'lOl Downey Roadand 2b20 Ea.st 54th St. were read and a.pproved. Application for and excavation permit at 2801 East ~ernon Ave.for a sewer connection was granted to M.Miller. Application of C.H..Ruth f.or a building permit at Slauson & Boyle Aves was read and referred to a cumittee for investigation. Application of the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. for a permit to cut the curb at 25th & Alamed.a Sts. was read and approved subject to supervision by the City Engineer. Application of the Coast Concrete Products & Bldg.Co. f.or a building permit on Iron St.north of Slauson was read and f'eferred back to said company a.s it did not comply with our building prdinance. Application of the Union Packing Co. for a permit to build a. packing house at 3030 East Vernon Ave was read and approved. Application of the Mark Mfg.Co. for a. building permit at 37th & Santa. Fe Ave. was read and referred to a committee of three,Durbin,Leonis and J.J .Furlong for approva.l as to certain changes in their plans. Application of the Broaba.cher Iron Works for a building permit next to the Killefer Mfg.Co. was read and approved. Application of the South Los Angeles Land & ifa.ter Co. for permission to e:x:cavat. 3280 feet for the purpose of laying a water line to East 25th st was read and approved. Financiall report on the City of Vernon for the month of December was reM and ordered filed. Police report. on the City of. Vernon for the month of December 1922 was rea.d and ordered. filed. Application of the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. for an excav&tion permit to buili a connection to connect a 14" storm sewer a.t 2.5th & Alameda st running same into a catch basin was read and approved. Report of the City Health Officer for the month of December 1922 was read and ordered filed. Letter from the Sta.te Compensa.tion Insurance Fund showing payment of compensation insurance to Jesse Williams was read and ordered filed. Petition asking for a change in the nume of Downey Road to Downey Blvd. was read and laid over. The appointment of J.J.Keller to fill the office of Street Supt. was read and apIJroved. Application of the Southern Pacin c I~~ .Co. for a s-tJUr track franchise betweEll. 48th place and 51st St was read and laid over. An ordinance establishing the grade of St.Charles ~ve.in the City of Vernon was read for the first time. .Amended ordinance granting the .1ilshire Oil Co. a pipe line franchise on East ..;,6th St. ViUS read for the first time,and upon motion duly made,seconded and Carried passed the first reading. Ordinance no ..2.45 was read for the second time. Upon motion duly made, second.ed and carried said ord.inance Ho.2.45 passed. the second teading. Ordinance llo.246 was read f~r the second time.Upon motion duly made,second.ed and carried said ordinance Ho.~46 passed. the second reading. An ordinance granting the Santa 1'e Ry.Co. a franchise to lay a spur track across East ;;,;7th St. was read and passed. the second reading. The granting of a franchise to the Southern Pacific Ry.Co. for certain inte?- change tracks near 2.5th & Alameda Sts was read and laid over.
