REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
10:00 A ,
on the 6th day of February , 19:f.3, a't1Hlf 0' clock n M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon. which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong,Durbin,YJliffin and 1eonis
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Hornaday
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
January 16th
19:12.3, were: read and approved.
Monthly report of the Consumers Rock and Gravel Co. for the month ending
Dec.31.1922 was read and oriered filed.
Monthly report of the Police Department was read and ordered filed.
Petition to change the name of Downey Road to Downey Blvd. was read and
re:Eerred to the City Engineer and the City Attorney.
Ordinance No.2.4b wa.s read for the third time,upon motion duly made,seconded
and carriedsaid ordinance was passed and adopted.
Ordinance No.2.4i was read for the third time.Motion was duly made,seconded
and carried that said ordinance be passed and adopted.
Ordinance No.2.47 was read for the third time.Motion was duly made,seconded
and carried that said ordinance be passed and adopted.
Ordinance No .2nl being an ordinance est.ablishing and fixing the grade of
St .l1harles A.ve .was read for the second timelUpon motion duly made, seconded
and carried ordinance No.2nl was ordered pass.ed for the second reading.
Ordinance No.2-51 was read for the third time.Upon motion duly made,seconded
and carried Ordinance No.2.51 was ordered passed and adopted.
Ordinance l~o .2.52. being an ordinance regulating pool halls and establishing
a district where such places may be established was read for the second
time.Upon motion duly made ,seconded and carried ordinance lio .252 was order.
passed for the second reading.
Ordinance Ho.2.52 was read :for the third time.Upon motion duly made,seconded
and carried Ordinance No.2b2 was ordered passed and adopted.
Ordinance No.253 being an ordinance prohibiting the establishing of sand
pits within certain portions o:f the City of Vernon Wi-S read for the second
time, Upon motion duly made,seconded and carried ordinance No.Bb3 was order-
ed passed for the second reading.
Ordinance No.2.b3. was read for the third toe.Upon motion duly made,secondiil
and carried Ordinance No.2-55 was ordered passed and adopted.

Application of Joe Lee for a permit to sell lunches fdiDm a basket to men
working in the factories was read und ordered filed.
Application of the Calif .:B"laxseed Products Co. to have certain repairs
made to a road running north from East 26th St.just east of the Scheider
place was read and ordered filed.
Application of the Central Manufacturing District.to have certain repairs
made to East 26th St.between the Santa :Pe Ry.crossing and the bridge was
read and referred to the City imgineer for report.
A letter from the City Enginee.r regarding the in-advisibility of allowing
anyone to hang pipe lines to our East ~6th St.brlicige was read and referred
to the City Attorney.
Resolution No.236 being a resolution abandoning proceedings of a certain
public alley descridbed in Hesolution of Intention IJo .186 of the City of
Yernon,was read and upon motion duly made,seconded and carried Resolution
No.236 was ordered passed illld adopted.
Resolution No.237 being a resolution approving map of an assessment distrid;
for the opening and widening of a certain unnamed alley within the City of
Vernon,was read and upon motion duly made,seconded and carried Resolution
No.237 was ordered passed and adopted.
Resolution No.238 being a resolution approving a map of an assessment
district for the laying out s.nd opening of a certain street in the City of
Vernon to wit E.5Gnd St.was read and upon motion duly made~seconded and
carried Resolution :No.238 was ordered passed and adopted.

information on same to consider.The Clerk was instructed to obtain more
information.
Application of Mark Lalley Co.for a permit to build a building at the N.E.
corner of 37th & Santa Fe Ave.was read and referred to the City Engineer
with instructions that said plans and specifications should agree with the
terms of the building ordinance before said permit is granted.
Applica.tion of the Maas Chemical Co. for a. permit tv build a building on
Iron St .north of Sla.uson Ave.for the purpose of a chemical plant. was rea.d
a.nd ordered filed.
Application of the Ruth Dredger Mfg.Co. for a permit to erect a. building
on their property on Boyle Ave.south of Sla.uson Ave.was read and granted.
Application of the Lavy Bros.Box Co. for Ii. permit to erect an Incinera.tor
on their property at 22.46 .t;ast 38th St .was rea.d and granted.
Application of Howard Booher for a permit to move a one story ofiice build-
ing of Stucco material to 2805 Santa }!'e Ave .was read and ordered filed.
Application of R.LaDow for a permit to construct a new temporary office
on the west line of Lot 10 of the 000 acre tract of the :b'rui t Land Assn.
for the purpose of a real estate office was read and ordered filed.
Communication from the E.K.WoodLumber Co.relative to deeding the City
certain land on Audrey St .in ret.urn for the City abandoning So certain
portion of Junior St. was read and ordered referred to the City mgineer.
