REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of cali1R~BhalLwis. held
on the 6th day of March 192.5,191 , atiio'clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Durbin~Knif:fin~Leonis and J.J.Furlong.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Horna.da~
President Trustee J.J .Furlong presiding.

Santa Fe Ave was read and approved.
Application of the Austin Co.of Cal.for a building permit at. 51st and
Santa Fe Ave was read and approved. '
Applicationj of the Pioneer P~er Co. for ~ building permit at. 55th &
,) Alameda St.was read and approved. subject to ordLlancetr 243 and

Appli.cation of the Southern Calif .EdisQn Co-. fer a building permit in
the rear of 3715 Santa Fe L.ve .was read and ap-,-H'oved.
Lpplication of the Southern Calif.Gas Co. for an exmwation permit at
2005 E.Slauson /..ve.was read and approved.

pipe line on East ~6th St. between the Santa Fe Ave and the Eastern
limi ts of t,;;e City of Vernon was read <.;.lld I...l.pproved for the street only.
s<...id permit to be given to the ,lilshire Oil Co. upon their paying into
the Trust Fund of the City of Vernon the SULl of ~505.70 as a. guarantee
deposit.This permit does not give the.lilshire Oil Co. the right to
place the pipe line on the mst ~G.th St.Bridge.

Letter from the limltington ~d & Improvement Co. regarding the construc~
ion of a sanatary S~ier on East 27th St.was read and referred to the Cit;y
Engineer.
Upon recommendation of the City Er1gineer the East 37th st crossing of the
Atchison Topeka & Santa Pe Ry.Co. was ordered left at the same grade that
now exists.The Santa Fe By.Co. ro~d The General Petroleum Corp.to be
notified by the City Clerk of the action of the Board in this matter.
Application of the Southern Calif.Telephone Co. for a permit .0 lay a.n
underground pipe on the south side of Frui tlancf Road at Malabar St. wa.s
read and approved.
Peti tion Changing the name of Downey Road to Downe;y Blvd .was read and
ordered :filed.
Letter from Officer 1iartz. regarding a salary increase was read and taken
under advisement.

Application of the Gordon Box Lunch Co. for a permit to dispense box
lunches to the employees of the various factories in the City was read am
ordered filed.
l\pplication of the Santa :B'e Ry .Co. fora spur track franchise a.cross East
26th St.to take care of the Comet Oil Co. was read and laid over.
Monthly report of the Vernon Police Department for the month ending Mar.
1.19~3 was read and ordered filed.
RESOLUTIOl~ nO.240.
VlHEREl\.S ,On the 11th day of January 1910 the Board of Trustees did grant
a permit to the General Petroleum Corp.to lay,construct,maintain and
operate a pipe line across Santa Fe Ave.to certain loading racks situate
on the west side of Santa Fe Ave.just south of East 30th St.and
;JHEREAS,the period for which said pipe line was granted was not to exceed
four years from date of issue,the Board reserving the privilege of
revoking said permit at its pleasure,and
VfHEREAS, the period of said temporary franchise ha.ving expired and the
Board not seeing the necessity of having said line continue indefinately
THEREFOR;
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF VERl~ON DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That said temporary franchise granted to the General Petroleum Corp.on
the lIth day of January,191.i to lay,construct and maintain and operate a
pipe line over Santa Fe Ave .in the City of Vernon to connect certain
loading racks situa.te on the west side of Santa Fe Ave.south of 30th st.
be and the same is hereby revoked.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF '1ERlIOl~ DO FURTHER RESOLVE;
That the Cit~ Clerk,notify said Genera.l Petroleum Corp.in writing and
also notify said Southern Pacific Railroad Co.in writing of the passing
of this resolution,and giving the Genera.l Petroleum Corp. the period of
thirty days to abandon said pipe line from said Santa Fe Ave.
I;hereby certify that the foregoing is a true,correct,copy of
resolu.ion No.a40 passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City
of Vernon at a meeting held on the 6th of March,19~3.
