by said City of the following municipal improvements9to wit;-
FIRST: The c.onstruction,instLi..llation and completion of So water
works system to supply and distribute;and plants and machinery to apply
water for protection against fire;
SECOlID: The Construction,installu.tion and ccm'pletion of a. Fire
Alarm system;
The cost of which improvements will be too great to be paid out
of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said city.
BE IT RESOLVED :urn DETEPJHI1ED BY ]~HE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
VEBlJON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and ne~ess.ity demand the ac-
quisi tion, construction ~nd complet.ion by said City of Vernon of the
following mUnicipa.l improvements,to wit:
First; The acquisition of lands. and the digging,drilling,construc~
ion and completion of wells9resorvoirs,stand-pipes9tanks9mains9pipelines,
pumping stations.,pumping plants9machinery and equipment9fire houses and
fire engines and equipments,a,ld all other works,propert;v. or'8"~e~@:,
necessary or proper for a water works system for supplying,distribu~ing
and applying water for the protection of said city and its. inhabitants frm
fire and the incurring of other expenses incidentgl thereto or arising
therefrom.

And that said improvements and each of them are necess.ary and

filling the office of Superintendent of Streets of the City of Vernon made
vacant by the resignation of J.J.Keller.
THEREFOR,BE IT RESOLVED:

That T.J.Furlong be and he is hereby appointed Superintendent of Str~
ets of the City of Vernon.

The Superintendent of Streets shall perform all duties required of
