19230508 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 8th day of May , 19~Z , ai~ o'clockJP. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees Leonis, Durbin, Kniffin, T.J.FubIong. ' There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Hornaday President Trustee J.J .Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on April 18th 1923 191 , were: read. Application for an excavation permit by, Los Angeles Refining Co., was read and referred to the City Engineer. Application for an excavation permit by, Pioneer Paper Co., was read and laid over. Application for an excavation permit by, Jameson Oil Co., was read and decided that the Cmty of Vernon has no jurisdiction to grant privileges 1n the river bed under the river. Application for an excavation permit by the Huntington Land and Improvement Co, was read and granted. Application for an excavation permit bt the Southern at 3801 Santa Fe Ave., was read and granted. Application for an excavation permit by the Southern Co., at 5512 Boyle Ave., was read and granted. Application for an excavation permit by the Southern Co., at 6000 Boyle Ave., was read and granted. Applioation for an exoavation permit by the Southern California Gas Co., at 2140 East 25th Street, was read and granted. Application for an excavation permit by the Southern California Gas Co., at 2935 East Vernon Ave., was read and granted. Letter from the State Compensation Insurance Fund, for a renewal for May 7th 1923 to May 7th 1924 was read and approved. Letter from the Burroughs Adding Machine Co, regarding a contract on the Citys' adding machine for a year was read and ~aid over. Letter from Alec Pules, requesting permission to operate a restaurant on the southerly side of 25th street was refused. Pioneer Roll Paper Company, a corporation, has conveyed to the City of Vernon, a municipal corporation, for public purposes certain properties described in deedsfiled with the City Clerk of Vernpn California. WHEREAS, the City of Vernon, grantee therein, accepts the sami. Now therefore, be it resolved by the Board mf Trustees of the City of Vernon, that said deeds be,and the same is hereby accepted, and the Clerk is hereby instructed to reoord the same with the County Reoorder of Dos Angeles County, California. I, Thomas J. Fir long , Clerk of the City of Vernon and ex- officio clerk of the Board of Trustees thereof, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a trus and correct copy of the Resolution passed by said Board at a meeting thereof duly and regularly held on the 8th day of May, 1923.
