REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting o~ the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles9 and State of California, wasaheld
on the 21st day of August 9 19:123, aUC2 0' clock &. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Leonis, Durbin, Kniffin, Furlong.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Hornaday
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.

for a lunch counter at 49th & acific Blvd., was read and referred
to the City Engineer.
Report of City Attorney Chamberlain, regarding Pennzoil Co., plant
was read and ordered filed.
Request of Herman Scheider City Treasurer for an increase in Salary
Was read and taken under advisement.
Letter of the O.K.& L.A.Sawdust Co., for a place to burn su~plus
shavings and sawdust was read and ordered filed.
AP?LICATION for an excavation permit by J.H.Rooney for the excavatim
for sand was read and referred to the City Attorney and City
Engineer who recomended as fOllows,n Auplicatio be denied unless

Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of vernon, fixing
the tax rata of the said City of Vernon for the year of 1923-24 for the
purpose of raising revenue to carryon the various depratments of said CiV
and to pay the Bonded Indebtedness thereof.

AS FOLLOWS:-
SECTION 1. That for the purpose of determining the tax raje, the
City of Vernon shall be divided as follows; lst,that portion known as
the old City, 2nd; that portion known as the Ray Tract as annexed in
1914. 3dr; that portion known as the.Fruitland iUmexation of 1914. 4th
that portion known as the Industrial Territory annexed in 1920.
SECTION 2. There shall be and there is levied upon eash One Hundred
Dollars worth of property in that portion of the City of Vernon hereinab.~
referred to as the ffOld City at the value assessed by the County Assessor
of the County of Los Angeles, Saste of California, and as the same have
been equalieed by the Board of Supervisors of said County and Stateor by
the Board of Equalization, of the State of California, not including
property for the State purposed under the provisions of Section 14 of
Article13 of the Constitution of Oalifornia for the purpose of raising
revenue to carryon the various departments of the Oity of Vernon for the
year1923-24, and to pay the bonded inde~tedness of the City of Vernon, the
amount of which having been fixed and determined by Ordinance No. 286., a
tax in the sum of .50.45 cents.
Section 3. There shall be and there is levied hereby upon each One
Hundred Dollars ($lOO~OO) worth of propertyin those portions of the Oity
of Vernon referred to in Sectionl.as the "Hay Tract," "Fruitland".
and the "Indus trial Territory n at the value assessed by the Oounty Assesscr
of the County of Los Angeles9 State of California, and as the same may hav
been eaualized by the Board of Supervisors of sail Oounty and state or by
the State Board of Equalazation of the State of Qalifornia not including
property taxablefor state purposes under the provisions of Section 14 of A
Article 13 of the Constitition of California for the purpo~e of raising
revenueto carryon the various departments of the City of ernon for the
year 1923-249 the amount of which having been fixed and determined by
Ordinance No. 286, in the sum of .41.4 cents.
SECTION4. The Clerk shall upon the passage of this ~esolution
certify the fact and date thereof, and transmit a copy of the same to the
County Audttor:8f the County of Los Angeles, State of California.
