REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 16th day of January , 19:a4, at:lO 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Kniffin, Durbin, Leonis & FUrlong
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Hornaday
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on

Report of the City Health officer read and ordered filed.
Application for an excavation permit by the So. Calf Gas Co.,te~
gas connection at 5111 Santa. Fe Ave., was read and granted.
Application for an excavation permit by the So. Cal. Gas Co., for
gas connection at 2121 East 51st street was read and granted.
Application for an excavation permit by the So. Calf Gas. Co., for
- gas connection at East 37th st., and Saco st., was read and granted.
Application for permission to operate a lunch wagon at the corner of
Vernon and Alameda Streets by. Mrs Ella M. Barrell was read and ordered
filed.
Granting the Gilmore Oil Co., a franchise to opera.te an oil
pipe line in the City @f Vernon was taid over untill
description i8 corrected.
Of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon to order
improvements made in st Charle., Audrey and Hawthorne Sts.,
was"read and upon motion duly made seconded and carried
was adopted.
Letter from the Stauffer Chemical Co., regarding the license fe. imposed
upon the Suckow Chemical Co., who state that the Suckow ahemical CO't
is a sUbsidary of the Stauffer Chemical Co. The Board of Trustees
decided that the Suckow Chemical was doing a. separate business, therefor
was subjected to a separate license.

filed. .
Application for permission to operate ~ Employment Bureau by Keystone
State Employment Bureau at 5823 Santa te Ave., was laid over advisement.
Letter from H .M.Dal ton, attorney f'or Mrs ,Mason, regarding Q1.rt.-y"Kar~alls
orders to close restaurant was ref.red to City Attorney.
Petitions signed by residences of East 37th and East 38th Street to haTe
nuisance committed by the Vernon Feed & Milling Co abated was refered to
City Health oificer.
Application for an excavation permit by the So. L.A.Land & Water Co.,
for water oonnection a.t 3030 East Vernon Ave was granted.

Mcrtion. was made by City Engineer Howard McCurdy that valve bids, which

The City Attorney and City Engineer recommended that all Bid.1iI and
proceedings be abandoned on the improvement of st. Charles, Junior
and Hawthor.e and Audrey Streets, owing to an error in the description.
Motion was made and seconded that proceedings be abandoned was carried.
The Cit~ Engin~er recommended that the Bid of the Pacific Cast Iron Pipe
Co., sabm~tt.dedanuary 2nd be accepted.
