ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING.
An adj ourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Vernonl county of Los Angelesl State of california. was
held on the 17th day of July 19~4 , at 2.30 0 I clock
P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in
said Oity of Vernon, which said place is the place fixed by ordi-
nance for regular meetings of said Board to be held, pursuant to
adjournment from the regular meeting held the 15 day of
July 19~4,
There were present at such meeting Trusteesl
Leonis, Kniffin, Durbin, Levy & Furlong
There were absent from such meeting Trusteel none.

presiding.

July 15th 19124, were: Laid over.
In regards to the bids received on July 15th for gate valves and fire
hydrants the City Eagineerc,recamrnended.as follows:
1st - That .ke bid of the Chapman Valve Company for 6u
gate valves be accepted.
2nd - That the bid of R.D.Y~ood & Co., for fire hydrants
be accepted, while their bid is the highest they
have the best hydrant offered. If the Board considers
these hydrants too expeysive, I think they should at
least be used on Santa be Ave., and East 38th Streets
. and West Vernon Ave. The next hydrant that I would
recommend would be the Ludlow if the Board does not
wish to buy all Wood hydrants.

A motion was made by Trustee Leonis and seconded by Trustee Kniffin that
the recommendation of the City Engineer be accepted. The motion was J
moved and seconded and adopted.
Application for permission by Sam Lyons for permission to operate an ice
cream wagon at the entrance of the General Petroleum Corp., was laid ove

pump house onproperty located at 28th & Santa Fe Ave., was read and
approved.
Application for a building permit by the Associated Oil Company for an
office building to be located at 18th & Santa Fe Ave., was read and
approved.

Company across East 26th st. ,near Jaboneria. Rd., Was laid OVEr
Application for permission by the Southern ~alifornia Telephone Co.,
to lay a telephone conduit in Santa Fe Ave.~ The City Engineer recommen~
that the Telephone Company lay their 'proposed conduit between the
Water System and the L.A.Railway tracks. A motion was duly made, secondm
that the So. Cal. Telephone Co., be granted a permit subject to the City
Engineers recommendation.

and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried was duly grapted.
Ordinance
319 . . .
An ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon,
fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation as revenue
to carryon the various departments of the said City of Vernon,
was read and upon motion duly made and seconded passed the fir~
reading.
A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that a safety comllli ttee be
termed. The chairman recommended that three members be consisted of this
cornmittee, and appointed the following Trustees to serve as the Public
Safety Committe: DurDin, Levy and Kniffin.
A motion was made, seconded and carried that the City Clerk be instructed
to write a letter to the LmB Apgeles Board of Public Works asking them to
abate from dumping from Santa ~e R.R. Tracks and East 26th Street as it
endangers the bridge.
A motion was made by Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trustee Levy, and carrie
that the City Engineer draw a map showing conditions at the East 26th St.,
"ridge.
A motion was made by Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trustee Levy and carried
that the President of the Board and the City Clerk enter into a contract,
submitted by the So. Cal. Edison Company for the furnishing of electric
energy for the water plant.
The Police Committee made the following regulations to take effect on
August 1st 1924.
That all the Police Officers make a daily report in writing of all cases
handled and the time they came on duly and the time when off duty.
That all the Police Officers are to have & books, and to alternate them
every other day, so that they may be checked by the clerk and reported
to the Board each month.
That a report is to be made by the City ~ecorder showing number of cases
and disposition 0<< same. ~
That all vacations are to be approved by the Board or Committee in charge.
That a list be furnished showing persons wearing City badges and their
address.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned to the call of the
