REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 19th day of AUgtlst , 19J24, at 100' clock )t. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.

The meeting was called to order 11 the chairman and the following
iusiness put to order.
Application for a Duilding permit iy the AlReriuan SifiIlcOOJRpany for the
erection of a display ioard at the corner of East 26th Street & Soto
was read and granted.
Application for an excavation permit iy the Southern California Gas Co..
for the laying of service main on Joyle Ave., north of Vernon Ave., was
read and granted.
Application for an excavaticn permit 'Y the Southern California Gas Co" \
for the laying of service main at 3851 Santa Fer Ave., was read and gran.
Letter from the Gilmore Oil Company regarding the installation of Foaaiw
System was read and ordered filed.
Letter from the Crescent Rjfining CompanJ regarding the Foamite System.
claiming that they are not operating a refinery and do not come under
the Foaaite Ordinance was read and referred to K.R.Isaacs, Fire Inspecto~
.id sui.itted iy R.C.Payne for the construction of a warehouse on the
City property for the sum of $ 1032.00 was recommended DY H. McCurdy the
City Engineer. On a motion duly made, seconded and carried this .j.d was
awarded to R.C . Payne .
Application for an excavation permit DY Vondes Pump Co.,for the installau
ion of an underground gasoline storage tank of 230 gaJ.,loil '.,apaci ty in .
the sidewalk parking space was read and granted.
Letter from Harvey Brothers, requesting permission to haul waste material
through the streets of Vernon to Lots 18 & 19 of the John R. Taylor Tr.,
was read and referred to the City Attorney.
Applieation for permission to o)erate a lunch wagon on the premises known
as 2067 East 37th Street by Nellie Mendoza was read and referred to the
Police Department..

Vacating and closing up of an alley east of Alameda Stre~
and south of East 38th Street was laid over.
Letter from the Santa. ]le RE..ilway Company, agreeing to the mainaanence and
k,ep ~lear,culverts, under the proposed spur tracks across East 26th St.,
was read and laid over.

Letter from the bactory,-Vite Company, regardins the purchase of certain
property by the City of ernon, Detween the Fruitland spur and property
owned DY the Redimade Jui'lding Company from the ]laetory, Site Company
was ordered filed.

Letter from the Monarch Glass Company, inquiring if a plant for the manufaeture
of glass ware will Ie permissille on East 25th Street, alout 400 feet east
of Alameda Street, was read and ordered filed. Mr. John Marlle was assured that
if the plans and specifications were approved IY the City Engineer there would
Ie no oDjections as to the loeatina of this plant at this location.
Application for a .uildin~ permit .Y the ~eneral PertoleUE Vorp., for the
construction of an office luilding and co~pounding plant was read and approTed.
The resignation of Motor Cycle officer, J.J.KreisBerg was filed with the
Board and an exception was taken to the wording of this letter and Mr. KreislelB
was instructed to file a letter asking fora hearing Before the loard regardi~
this resignation.
Application for a luilding permit BY the Jaash Ross Tool Company was read and
granted.
The City Att~rne1 recommended that the payments tp Geo. Mitchell Ie made on
the first fuesday- pfLthe month instead of the third Tuesday.
Tlae Ci t,. Engineer was instructed to start proceedings for"/the;.,widening of
Santa Fe ATe., fiTe feet on each side of the street.
The City Engineer was instructed to make a report on the new sewer district.
The City- Engineer was instructed to prepare a water district on Pacific 11Td.,
to Fruitland Ave.
Report of H.H.Isaacs on the application of H.E.Korns for the maintanence of
a storage room for roofing oils was referred to the City Attorney.
Demands in the SUll of Fifty Four Thousand OnEil..;.liuD.dred Sixty- Nine Dollars and
Eighty -eight cents were presented to the Finance Committee.
The following demands were approved and ordered paid.
