19240916 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes (2) ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 16th day of September ,19&4, at 2 o'clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Kniffin, Leonis Durbin ~ Furlong There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Levy President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on 191 ,were: Application for an excavation permit by the Southern California Bas Co., for gas service at 3712 Boyle Ave., and to repair gas main on East 2Sth St." 740' east of Santa Fe Ave., was read and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried was granted. Application No. 244 for a building permit by Geo. L. wastman Co., for the construction of a warehouse on their property located at 27th ~ Alameda Stre~ was read and granted. Application No. 245 for a building permit by Stauffer Chemical Co., for the construction of a tool house on their property located on bast 26th Street was read and granted. Applica.tion Uo. 246 for a build., ing permit by the Globe Grain ~ Milling Co., for the construchion of a garage on property known as Lot A Tract 2493 .was read and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried was granted. Application No. 247 for a building permit bu C.J.Kubach Const Co., for the construc~ion of a storage shed abd garage was read and geanted. Application No. 248 for a building permit by Barbara Dauberman for the con- struction of a dwelling to be located on Lot 18 of New Vernon Tract was reed and granted. Application for a franchise by C.B.Eddington to conduct a crude oil ~ gasolim. storage plant on the M.V.O'Donnell property was read and ordered filed until plans for foamite system is approved by Fire Inspector Isaacs. Applicatio~ for permission by Robert ~ells torsell merchand~se Was read and referred to Trustee Kniffin. Letter from Sharp ~ Fellows 6onstruction Company, stating that they are not manufacturing or performing any commercial service and therefore claim exemption ffom the City License tax. This communication was referred to the City Attorney. Applic~tion from W.F.Richardson for position as motorcycle officer was recei. and ordered filed. Application for permission by the Globe Grain ~ Milling Company to conduct an open fire on their premises so as to dispose of waste material that has accummlated for their buildings, was granted providing that due caution would betaken in this burning. The City Engineer was instructed tQ furnish a road grade of the intersecition of East 26th Street and Jaboneria Road. A motion VIas made by Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trp.stee Kniffin, that iihe funds for the Dllrchase of a certain piece of property from the Factory Site Companybe temporary withdrawn from the \.ieneral Fund until such a time that Bonds can be issued for the reimbursement. The City Engineer reports that the cost of repairing East 2~th Street will be approximately liline Hundred Dollars (.900.) The Street ~u~er~ntendant.was instructed to order the work done and under the superv~s~on of the C~ty Engineer. The Sity Clerk was instrllcted to write to the Santa 1!'e Railway Company order- ing them to open the drain or clllvertunder their right-of-way along East 26th Street and Jaboneria Road. The Street Superintendent was instrllcted to notify Geo Mitchell contrac~or for the water system, to flood cros~ pipe excavations and have paved as soon as ditches have properly set.
