A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of. California, waS*.held

on the 7th day of Octoher , 19J?4, at.:2 o' clock . M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.

The minutes of the meeting, held on
September 30th 19124, were:
Application for an excavation l)ermi t by the Associated Oil Co., for a
sewer connection on ~ast 28th Street was read und referI'ed to the City
Engineer who recornmended that the application be granted.
Appli"ation for a building permlil.tby the \"ihi ting M.,ad Company for the
construction of a shed was read and upon recommendation of the City
EnginGer was granted.
Application for a buildong permit by the E.K.Wood Lumber Co., for the
construction of a warehouse was read and upon recommendation of the City
Engineer was granted.
Application ~fr a building permit by the Standard Brick Co.. for the
construction of a sign board at the corner of East 26th ~ Soto Streets
was read and upon recommendation of the City Engineer was granted.
Application for a building permit by the Poxon Pottery Co., for the
construction of anlean to! was reClid and upon recommendation of the City
Engineer was granted.
Application for a building permit by Geo Jones for the. construction of
a Sleeping room on the Atchison, Topeka ~ Santa Fe r~ght of way was '
read and referred to the ~ealth Dept.
application for a position as fireman on the proposed fire department
by Wm.R.McGee was read and ordered filed.
Qrd. 326 .An application for a spur track franchise across East Vernon
Ave., approximately 310 feet west from Santa Fe Ave., by the Southern
Pacifio Company was ~aid over, owing to a protest filed with the Rail-
road Commission against said crossing.
Letter from H.B.Isaacs, approving ~lans for a foamite system for the
protection of the Larkey-Thompson, Edington ~ Atlas Refining Companies
plan~s.
Ord 328. Declaring the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Vernon to close up, vacate and abandolll aportion of East 29th Street
in the City of Vernon was read and upon motion duly made, seconded and
carried passed the second reading.
Ord. 328. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the above ordinance
number 328 was read for the third time and dadopted.
Ord. 329. Declaring the intention of the Board of :i!rustees of the City of
Vernon to close up, vacate and abandon a portion of 2nd 'stree.t in the City
of Vernon was read and upon motion duly made seconded a.nd oarried paseti.

Ootober 7th 1924.
Ord. 329: Upon motion duly made, seoonded and carried ordinance 329 declar-
ing the intention of the Board of Trustees to close llP, vacate and abandon
a portion of 2nd Street was read fro the third time and adopted.
Ord. 330; An ordinance of the Board of Trustees reglllating the hauling of
hides and the byproducts was read by title and upon motion duly made,
seconded and carried received the first reading.
Ord. 331: An crdinance of intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of
vernon for the opening and widening of ~ast 26th Street was read and upon
motion duly made, seconded and carried passed the first reading.
Map od assessment district on East 26th Street was submitted by the City
~ngineer amd approved.
A motion was dllLly made, seconded and carried tp.~t.. thecCitW Attorney prepare
the opening and widening proceedings en East 26th Street.
A motion was duly made seconded and carried approving the plans for the
proposed pump house. The City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to
be opened at the next regular meeting of the Board of Trllstees on Ootober
21st 1924.
Application for permission by the various packing houses of the City of Verncm
to drive cattle from the Los Angeles Stock Yards to their plants was referred
to the Street Superintendent and Trustees Kniflin ~ Durbin .
Mr. Richard D. King the architect and H. McCllrdy the City Engineer recommend~
that the bid for the installing of the plllmbing for the proposed new City Hali
sllbmi tted by John Ellstace Plumbing Company be accepted. :A. motion W,8.S duly
made, seconded and carried that the John Eustace Plumbing Co., be awarded
the contract for the sllpplying of materials and the installing of the
plumbing in the new City Aall.
Mr. Richard D. King the architect and lie McCurdy the City Engineer recommended
that the bid for the installing of the electrical fixtures and wiring in the
proposed new City Hall submitted by the ]~ewberry Electrical Co. ,be accepted.
A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the Newberry Electrical
Co. ,be awarded the contract for the installing the electrical fixtures and
the wiring in the new City Hall.
Trustee Leonis presented to the Board of Trllstees a. letter receiTed from the
Brombacher ~ron Works regarding the implorable condition of Magnolia ATe.,
and the matter was referred to the City At orney and the City Engineer amd tm
City Clerk.
Applioation for a building permit by the Geo. L. Eastman Co., for the con-
struction of a.n office building to be located at 27th" Alameda Streets was
read and referred to the City 1ngineer who recommended that a permit be
granted.
Application for a building permit by the Southern Glass Company for the
construction of a shed was read and referred to the City Engineer who recomm-
ended that a permit be granted.
Application for a building permit by A.Y.Sale for the
storage shed for automobiles was read and referred to
reoeommended that a Jpermitbe granted. ~
