REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 24th day of Oc$ober , 19124, atl9 0' clock a. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Durbin, Leonis, Kniffin ~ Furlong
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Levy

The minutes of the meeting, held on
October 21st
19124, were: laid oyer.
Building applications submitted by the Mox Wrecking Co., and the Pioneer
Lumber Company were read and the City hngineer recomrnended that they
be issued building permits. It was moved and seconded that the Mox
Virecking Company and the Pioneer Lumber Co., be issued building permits.
It was moved and seconded and carried th~t the bids submitted by
Fred R. Johnson, Walter'll. Warne, J.F.Kobler and J.D.Sherer . Sons be
referred to the City Attorney.
A request of the Reliance Truck Company to establish a distributing
plant for sand and rock on East 26th Street was received by the Board
of TrU2tees, and it was moved and seconded and ~arried that they furnish
planE. cfrthe site and buildings.

Howard McCurdytrecornmended that bid on the foundation for the wa.rehouse
submitted by J.D.Sherer . Sons be accepted. It was moved and seconded
and carried that all bids except J.D.Sherer . Sons be rejected and the
contract be awarded to J.D.Sherer . Sons.
Application for an excavation permit (#5l9)by the Southern "'alifomia
Gas Company for an excavation on East ~ernon avenue was read"and referra
to the City Engineer who reported that this application be gr~nted,
subject to the City g~Ying another location for pipe line and a (iuit
claim to the City of Vernon for BDyle .~e.

Communication received from the Vindecator Mfg., 60mpany wishing to
donate to the City of lernon. one giant sprinkler to be installed
upon the roof of the reservoir was read and filed.
Communication received from the Fidelity Deposit Company for the release
of Bond on Herman Scheider City Treasurer Was read and referred to
Trustee Kniffin, Durbin and J. J .]'urlong.
Application for permission by Art Redman for permission to sell apples
on private property located at E. 26th . Downey Road was read and grant.
Application submitted by Vlill Hultquist for position on police departmeIt
was read and referred to committee of whole.
Application submitted by J.J.Kreisberg for position as motorcycle office'
was read and referred to committee as whole.
Application submitted by the Union IronWorks for a building permit was
read and granted.

of the E.K.Wood Lumber Company was referred to the City Attorney.
Ho.ard McCurdy, the City Engineer recommended that the bid of J.D.
Sherer Ie Son on the purno house be accepted and all other bids be
rejected. It waS moved ~nd seconded that the recommendation of the
City Engineer be accepted, subject to a ruling of the City Attorney.
