REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 27th day of October , 19l24, at iI*l 0 I clock Ii. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Kniffin, Durbin, Leonis & Furlong
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Levy
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
October 24th

The building application of stephens Adamson Company., Mrs M.W.O'Donnell,
L. Kaufman Company, and Patton & Davies Lumber Company, were approved by the
City Engineer. A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permits be granted
the above application.
Motion was made by Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trustee Kniffin, that the
recommendations of the City Engineer, that the City of Vernon install all Mathews
Fire Hydrants,be accepted. The motion was carried and the City Attorney was instructed
to prepare a contract for the s~le, at the price specified in their bid submitted
to the City of Vernon.
A motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin, that the
City Clerk be instructed to advertise for combination Fire Truck, Ladder and Hose
Wagon. Bids to be opened on 3rd Tuesday in November. Motion was duly carried.
A motion was made by Trustee ~eonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried
that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for Fire Hose to correspond
with other equiptment advertised for.
A motion was made by Trustee Leonis, and seconded by Trustee Durbin, and
carried that all bids for the pump house for the City of Vernon, be :laid over until
the next regular meeting.
ORDINANCE NO. 332: An ordinance granting to S.M.Haskins and his assigns the
right to construct, maintain and operate a railroad across Boyle Avenue and Magnolia
Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, and seconded by Kniffin that ODdinance n~ber 332 be
passed for first reading. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 330: That the President of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Vernon, an4 the Clerk of said City, be and they are hereby authorized and directed
for,an on behalf of the City of ~ernon to make application to the Board of Public
Works of the City of Los Angeles.'for the right to connect with sanibqry sewer of the
City of Los Angeles and to use the same for sewer drainage purposes in an amount
of sewage not to exceed three cubic feet per second, such sewage to be drained from
that portion of the City of vernon lying south of the south line of Vernon Avenue,
and east of the west line of the 500 acre tract of the Los Angeles Fruitland
Association, and its prolongation southerly.
RESOLVED FURThER; that Trustee J.B.Leonis and.~.liaskins, as special council
for the City, b~ and they are hereby authorized and cted to confer with said
Board of Public Works and other municipal authoritids the City of Los Angeles for
the purpose of negotiating a contract with respect to s sewer facilities and submit
such contract as may be proposed to this Board of Trustees.
