REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 27th day of October , 19:24 , at'lDM 0' clock P. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Kniffin, Durbin, teonis . Furlong
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Levy
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
October 24th 19~4, were: laid over
The building applications of Stephens Adamson Co., Mrs M.W.O'Donnell,
L.Kaufman Co. ,and Patten" Davis Lumber Co., were approved by the City
Emgineer. A motion was duly made, seconde and carried that permits";-e
be granted the above applications.
Motion 'Nas made by Trustee Durbin, seconded by Trustee Kniffin that the
recommendation of the City Engineer, that the City of\ Vernon install
all Mathews })'ire Hydrants be uccepted. The motion was carried and the
City Attorney was instructed to prepare a contract for same,at the price
specified in their bid submitted to the City of Vernon.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin, that the
City Clerk be instructed to advertise for combination Fire Trusk, Ladder
and Hose Wagon. Bids to be opened on 3rd Tuesday in lIovember. Motion was
duly carried.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin and carri.
that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for Fire Hose
1'0 correspond with other equiptment advertised for.
I'Viotion "vas made by Trustee Leonis, and seconded by Trustee Durbin and
carried that all bids for the pump house for the City of ~ernon, be
laid over until the next regular meeting.
RESOLUTIOD 350: That the President of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Vernon and the Clerk of said City, be and they are hereby authorized
and directed for and on behalf of the City of Vernon to make application
to the Board of Public Works of the City of Los AngelS's for the right to
connectwith the samitary sewer of the City of Los Angeles and to use
the same for sewer drainage purposes in an amount of sewage not to exceed
three cubic feet per second, such sewage to be drained from that portion
of the City of Vernon lying sout~ of the south line of Vernon avenue and
east 01 the west line of the bOO-acre Tract of the Los Angeles Fruitland
Association, and its prolongation southerly.
'RISOLVED FURTHER, that Trustee J.B.Leonis and S.M.Haskins, as special
councel for the City, be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
confer with said Board of Public Works and other municipal authoritmas
of the City of Los Angeles for the purpose of negotiating a contract
wi.th respect to such sewer facilities and submit such contract as maybe
proposed to this Board of Trustees.

Ord: An 6rdinance granting to S.M.l:.l.askins and his assigns the rirht to constru
332 ct, maintain and operate a railroad across Boyle ~lvenue and Magnolia
Avunue, was read and upon motion dul~, seconded and carried passed the
first reading.
Ord: An Ordinance granting to S.M.~-askins and his assigns, the right to cons-
333 truc.t, maintain and operate a'~railroad along Frui tland Road and ]'rui tland
Avenue extension in the City of Vernon Nas introducedand upon motion
dllly made by Irrustee Durbin, seccnded by Trustee Kniffin and carried that
Ordinance 33J receive the first reaaing.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried, tha
the salary of the Deputy City Clerk be increased Fifteen Dollars per month,
beginning November 1st 1924.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried, that
the salary of the night desk sargent be increased Fifteen Dollars per month,
beginning November 1st 1924.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Durbin and carr~ed,
that the salary of the City Marshall be increased. Twenty Dollars, beginning
Novemoer 1st 1924.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis seconded by Trustee Durbin and carried that
the City Attorney review all the minutes before they come before the Board and
receive an additional salar~ of 1wenty Dollars per month beginning November
1st 1924.
Motion was made by Trustee Leonis, seconded by Trustee Dllrbin and carried that
the meeting adjourn.
