19241230 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the Nth day of December ,19124, at ~o' clock il. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, Furlong, Kniffin, Levj, Leonis A Durbin. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, None President Trustee J.J.Furlung presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on December 23rd 19U , were: read. Moved b~ ~eonis, seconded b~ Levy that the report of ~eputy Marshall E. Giles regarding the complaint of A. Strock for the~killing of horses for zoos be corrected to read "That the report be referred to the Police Department for action instead of to the City Health OIficer and the City Attorney'l. Mntion carried. Moved by Kniffin, seconded by Durbin that the minutes of the meeting of December 16th, 1924 be approved as corrected. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A communication from the Pauly Jail Building Company of St Louis Mo., regarding jail eouiptmant was. on motion by Levy, seconded by Kniffin. duly carried and laid on the table. A communication from the Pacific Ready Cut Homes Company was read~ Motion by "evy, seconded by Durbin that the same be referred to Trustee Levy and Kniffin. Motion carr'ed. NEW BUSn~ESS: Application of the Rio Grande Oil C.ompany to operate a storage plant on East 30th Street was read. Koyed by Kniffin, seconded by Durbin that same be laUi OTer. Motion carried. Application of the Mox Wrecking Comuany for a permit to mOTe a storage shed 20' x 40' onproperjiy located at 2700 Downey Ave., was read. Moved by LeTY secobded by Leonis that the application be filed and permit granted. Communication from the Standard Oil Company regarding improvement of Santa -Fe Avenue was read. Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy that the same be referred to the City Clerk with instructions to answer same. Motion Carried Report from H.H.Isaacs regarding the progress that the oil refineries are making on the installation of a foamite system was read. Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy that same be filed and that the Police Deuartment take the necessary steps to comply with the requirements therein. Motion carried. ORn: Was read. MOTed by Leonis, seconded by Du.rbin that the City Clerk: be instructed to advertise for bids for fire engines, fire hose, jail plumbing and val11t doors at least ten (10) days before the third Tu.esday in Janu.ary.
