REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Anieles, and State of California, was held
on the a.Oth day of . anuary , 19~5 , at:Lp 0' clock"'. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
J.J.Furlong, Leonis, Kniffin, Durbin, and Levy
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
None
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on January 13th were laid over.

UNFIIHS!iED BUSINESS:
Ord: An ordinance of the City of Vernon, ordering the opening, widening and
~ extending of East 26th Street in the said City of Vernon was read in full
for second reading.
It was moved byKniffin and seconded by Darbin that ordinance No. 342 be
passed for the second reading.
Or~ Ordinance No. 342 was read for the third reading.

Motion carried by the follwwing vote: Ayes: Kniffin, Durbin, Leonis, Levy
ani Furlong. Noes: None.
IIM BUSINESS:
At this time the bids of the following companies for the furnishing of
fire apparatus to the City of Vernon, were opened and read: Seagrave Co.,
Pacific Fire Extinguisher Co., Stutz Fire Engine Co and the American La-
France Fire Engine Co.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy that all bids be referred to the Dity
Engineer, and to a committee consisting of the whole Council for invest-
igation and report. Motion carried
Bids from thf following concerns regarding the furnishing of fire hose to
the City of emon were read: Pacific Fire Extinguisher Co., Eureka Fire
Iose Co., American Rubber Mfg Co., Xewitt Rubber Co., and the Boston Woven
!lose and Rubber Co.
It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Darbin that all bids be referred
to the City Engineer, and a Committee consisting of the whole of the
Board of Trustees for investigation and report. Motion carried.
Bids were then opened for the equiptment for the City of Vernon. Bids were
received from the fullowing firm.: The Fries lCoSpn:;.,:Brombacher Iron Works.
Moved by Kniffin, seconded by Durbin that all the bids for Jail equiptment
be referred to Architect King for checking and report. Motion carried.

to positions with the City Fire De part.ent, and re~d.

January 20th 1925.
Application No. 482: Ah applcatiou, of J. Sanchez for permit to lay sidewalk in
front of the aaynes Printing Company on ~ast 38th Street was read.
MOTed by Kniffin, seconded by LeTY the the application be filed and permit
granted. Motion carried.
Application No. 484; An application filed by the Southern California 7elephone
Company for permit to set 4 thirty foot poles on East side of Downey Road,
south of East 26th Street,was read.
MOTed by Lwonis, secondii by Levy that said application be referred to the CiW
Clerk and that he request the telephone Company to make all applications for
permits on the City Application blanks. Motion carrmed.

A communication from the Fidelity "eposit Company regarding bond of Jl. ScheidEl"
City Treasurer was read.
Moved by ~eonis, seconded by Levy that same be referred to the City Clerk with
instructions to reply to same as the facts warrant. Motion carried.
A communication from the City Engineering Company of the City of Los Angeles
regarding certain storm drains in the City of vernon was read.

Application No. 476: An application for a building permij by the Union Iron
Works for the construction of a Templet Shop of the Talue of $1200.00 was rea~
MOTed by Leonis, seconde by Durbin that application be filed and a permit be
granted. Motion carried.
Application No. 480: An application for a building permit for the California
Naptha Products Inc., for the construction of a warehouse on East 26th Street
and Boyle Avenue.
MOTed by Kniffin and seconded by Levy that same be denied as the building to
be erected awasto be used.for the storage of oil, and the location being in
the prohibited territory. Motion carried.
Application No. 483: an application for a building permit by Miller ~ Danielsm
for the construction of a dust catcher was read.
MOTed by Leonis, seconded by Kniffin tha the application be filed and a permit
be granted for same. Motion carried.
Application No. 447: An application of the Southern California Telephone Comp~
requesting permit to set 2 fatty foot poles. 2.thirty-five foot poles and
three thirty foot poles and one anchor on the ~ast side of Alameda Sjreet
Detween Oenjer Street and Slauson ATenue, as shown on sketch attached to said
application, was read.
MOTed by Leonis and seconded by Mevy that the application De filed and that a
permit De granted with the understanding that all,polesare to be moved back
when the street is widened, upon notice from the Board of Trustees. Motion ca~

Meeting of the loard of Trustees
of the City of Vernon
January 20th 1925
Demands amounting to $ 2,951.98 upon the ~eneral Fund, , 56.50 upon the Trust
Fund and $ 14,757.71 on the Construction Fund, were read.
MOTed by Leonis, seconded by Levy that the demands be allowed and warrants
drawn on the respective fUnds for the said amounts. Motion carried.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Leyy that the meeting now adjourn until January
21st 1925 at 10.o'c1ock A.M. Motion carried.
