19250217 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 17th day of ~ebruary , 19J26, atlQ 0' clock Jl. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees
J.J.Furlong, Leonis, Levy, Kniffin, & Durbin.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Uone
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on

It was moved by Durbin, and seconded by Levy that the minutes be a,proved
as read. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
APPLICATION 497: Application for an excavation permit for the Reliance
Rock & Gravel Company for a driveway on East 25th Street was read.
It was moved by Leonis, and seconded by Levy that said application be
filed and permit be issued, subject to the approval of the City hngineer.
Motion carried.
AP?LICATION 499: An application of the Commercial Welding Company for
permission to construct a curb for a driveway to their property at 54th
and Santa Fe Ave., was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the application be filed
and permit granted, subject to the approval of the City Engineer.
Motion carried.
A cOmL1unication from the Southern California Telephone Company ~egarding
the completion of the excavation made by said company on Santa Je Ave.,
for their conduit system, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, and seconded by ~evy that said cOD1Jlunj.caticn be
referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report, at the next
meeting of the Board. Motion carried.
Appli~ations of William J. Goodale and ~eorge W. Tigh for positions on tm
Fire ~epartment were read.
It was moved by ~eonis and seconded by Durbin that ap9lications be filed.
Motion carried. -
A communication from. the So. 6a.lif. ~elephone Uompany, regarding pole and
anchor on east 38th ~treet was read.
Moved by Durbin, and seconded by Kniffin that the same be laid over for
peport of the City hngineer. Motion carried.
A communication from the Mox Nreckinh Company, requesting permit to burn
rubbish and wrecking material from wrecking jobs on thier property at
East 26th Street and Downey Road was read.
It was move4 by Durbin and seconded by Levy that same be referred to the
Police 1Separtment with power to act. Motion carried.

A communicatio~ from the Blue Bird Furniture Company regarding connection
to the City's .'ater Syatem for a sprinkling System in their factory was
read.

It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Kniffin that said comrnunication be'
referred to the City Engineer for report. Motion carried.
A collllll1Tdlication from the Richfield Oil Company regarding storage drums
at their East 38th street place was read.
It was moved by ~eonis and seconded by Durbin that same be filed. Motion
carried.
A communication from the Automobile Club of Soathern California regarding
an accident to one of their clients running ..m.m into water pipe on
East 26th Street was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by ~eonis that same be referred to
the City Attorney. Motion carried.
At this time Mr. Leonis made a report in reference to the Deed on the
Bandini property.
It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Durbin that report be received
and filed. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis and secobded by Kniffin that a Committee consist-
ing of Mr. Leonis, Mr. Levy and the City Clerk: Of 'said City of Vernon
be empowered to purchase vault doors for the City. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION 349: A resolution deeding certain property to the City of
Vernon for street purposes, was read.
