19250304 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 4th day of March , 19E5, at ~ 0' clock P. M. of said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held. There were present at such meeting Trustees, J.J.Furlong, Kniffin, Levt and Leonis. There were absent from such meeting Trustee, Durbin. President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding. The minutes of the meeting, held on l!'ebruary 26th, March 2nd &; 3rd 19~5, were: laid over. ORDINANCE 348: An ordinance to provide for th issuing of bonds of the City of Vernon, California in the sum of $150,000.00 was read for the second reading. It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin that ordinance 348 be passed for a second reading. Motion carried. ORDINANCE 348: Ordinance 348 was read for the third and final reading. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that Ordinance348 be adopted. Motion carried, by the following vote: Ayes Messrs. Furlong, Kniffin, Lew and Leonis. Noes: None. Ordinance 349: Ah ordinance providing for th issuing of $ 455,000.00 ~ater Works Improvement Bonds, and $ 15,000.00 of Fire Alarm Improvement Bonds for the City of Vernon, was read in full for a first reading. It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by levy that Ordinance 349 be passed for a first reading. Motion carried. RESOLUTION 351: A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of ?ernon directing the City Clerk to adve~se for the sale of Sewer Bonds for said City and notify the TreDsurer the Board of Control of the State of Galifornia of such proposed sale, as required by law, was read. It was moved by -eonis and seconded by levy that Resolution 351 be adopted. Motion Oarried. .. - ORDINANCE 350: An ordinance to grant the Southern ~acific Company & spur track across Center Street was read for a fiFst reading. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Kniffin that Ordinance 350 be passed for a second reading. Motion carried. At this time a Committee consisting of Messrs Leonis, Kniffin and ~evy reported that they have investigated all the vault doors submitted by merchants engaged in furnishing this class of material, amd recommended that all bids be rejected excepting the bid of the Sweetser &; Baldwin ~a~ Company, and that the contract for furnishing vault doors in ~he City Ball be awarded to Sweetser &; ~aldwin Safe Co. It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Furlong that the report of the Committee be received and accepted that ~ contract be entered into with the Sweetser &; Baldwin Safe Co., to furnish this material.
